One thing not totally bad about the Baucus healthcare bill
Edited on Fri Jun-19-09 07:20 AM by Teaser
The co-ops are administered by the federal government. That's an edge toward the public plan that can be expanded as it gets merged with the HELP bill

If people keep the pressure on.

The co-operative would see direct oversight from the Health and Human Services secretary, who would authority to make "final decisions about approvals of business plans and distribution of funds."

Push on it, and we'll have a public option. Unless we give in to all this defeatist bullshit going on.

2. defeatism
like I said, this is a foot in the door. Push on it, and we get more. Push hard,a lot more.

Or we can be defeatists. What's your choice?

5. Reality.
I've been at this for 20 years.

Problem is, only a handful want to push hard, or recognize the truth.

3. "But none of it is anything that’s going to stop it.”
“This was always going to be messy,” said a senior administration strategist. “It got messy faster and earlier than people thought. But none of it is anything that’s going to stop it.”

4. Not acceptable
Gee, now we will go broke BEFORE we get sick. Max, when you come up for re-election, I'm going to borrow on my Master Card and give it to anyone who runs against you in the primary. You gave AHIP everything they wanted.

6. don't be a defeatist.
I didn't say this was acceptable. I said it's a point we can push on. Because this bill has to be merged with the HELP bill. That will require more compromise toward a real public option. And if the house stays strong, we will be able to push it even more.

That they even put government oversight in the bill. That can only be expanded.

9. With Mad Max calling the shots?
Max is bought and paid for by AHIP. I have diabetes, a "pre-existing" condition that lets these whores jack my rates and copays thru the roof and Max says that is OK. Now, Max says I HAVE to buy a junk policy sold by his parasite friends that will STILL allow beancounters to ration my care OR I get fined.

Mr. President, how about a little less bullshit and a little more leadership? Mad Max's mess is NOT change I can believe in!

10. Mad Max only calls the shots on this bill
Dodd calls the shots on the Health Bill. And there is still the Rockefeller bill.

They somehow have to all be merged.

8. It's more likely it would sway to the private insurance side
than the government side. Big insurance has the bucks to buy these people off. We'll be screwed.

11. A co-op of a few thousand people can't compete with an unregulated multi-billion dollar industry.
