Saxby Chambliss, You Ignorant F&*K - Iranians Know Nothing About their own History ?
It leaves me breathless that someone as absolutely moronic as you, you insulated, homophobic, xenophobic, southern white male jerk, can rise as high in the political dung-heap as you have. You told Chris Matthews, while repeating the GOP meme that "Obama must get involved in the Iranian struggle", that the average Iranian has "no idea" that the U.S. overthrew their democratically-elected officials in 1953 and installed the Shah of Iran.

(The CIA secretly ousted the democratically elected prime minister of Iran, a man named Mohammad Mossadegh and supported shah of Iran’s dictatorship for the next 25 years.)

Oh, they don't?? How many Iranian friends do you have, Saxby? Or, like everything other idiotic thing you say and lock-step vote you cast, are you just simply an intolerant, ignorant hack from the South? You make us ALL look bad.. shame on you ! What an insult you just served up to the courageous men and women who are risking their lives this very day. That part of the history of Iran is ingrained as deeply in every Iranian as is the Civil War or Vietnam to us. It's their heritage, their history. I look at your voting record and want to throw up.

Do us all a favor: Sit down, and shut the fuck up.

1. "Saxby" - that sounds kinda, um, French?
Why doesn't he have a good ol' Georgia kind of name like Cletus or Billy Bob?

they reach 10 years old.

I spit on the so-called 'leaders' in this country who don't want adult Americans to know what's been done for decades in their name.

5. @$$hole
This country should just be honest about past meddling, and stop pretending it didn't happen. It is not going to destroy the country if we are honest, although it will be detrimental to the asshole neocons' and GOP goons that hid behind the flag when they pulled that shit...

Sorry for the vulgarity.

6. I concur. And when Obama mentioned it in his Cairo speech, my jaw went slack, but it felt good !
Now, if we'd only fess up to the 167,894 other atrocities we've committed...

8. What'd you'd expect him to say: NOTHING ! He asked Chambliss if the Iranians
wouldn't resent our "interference" given our past history with the Shah, etc., and that's when Saxby said 'it was 50 years ago.. the average man or woman marching in the street wouldn't know what you were talking about if you asked them about it.' (paraphrased)

27. Since Republicans always project - it speaks volumes about what
he thinks of the American public, huh?

Of course, if all he judges the rest of us by all the morons who keep re-electing him, then I can see why he would get that impression.

12. Not your fault, but you have two of the worst senators in the U.S.
Never fear, though - so long as Oklahoma has Coburn and Inhofe, you can't compete for worst state for electing senators.

11. The Shah was already in power at the time of the coup
The Shah was head of state and had the constitutional authority to remove from office the Prime Minister. It was a touch and go as to if Mohammad Mossadegh would oust the Shah or if the Shah would prevail. Which the latter did with the help of the CIA and the British.

13. That's like saying Americans have "no idea" that Kennedy was assassinated
Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 05:49 PM by Canuckistanian
1953 is a year that will NEVER be forgotten in Iranian history.

THAT'S why advisors are urging President Obama to be low-key in his response. ANY sign of interference will not be well received.

22. I'm not arguing your point
My point is that while many would say that Oswald killed Kennedy, they wouldn't know much more of the finer details if pressed. In this thread regarding the 1953 coup in Iran, I haven't seen the statement that it was a coup promoted by the British and Russians in 1941 that put the Shah in power. The Shah's father was considered to be pro-German and that was unacceptable to the British and Russians and thus he was ousted in favor of his timid son.

Some weeks ago, I found a site which gave a very good history of the 1953 coup and the events that led up to it. If I find it again soon, I'll post a link to it here.

14. I finally had to turn him off.
His appearance on Hardball seemed to last forever. Everything he said was so insanely stupid, I couldn't stand it. I switched to CNN till he was gone. How horribly republican he is.

20. Don't you be dissing my fine Senator like that.
Let me do it:

Saxby, you're the biggest waste of skin the universe has ever seen. You suck with the power of a thousand thousand Hoovers, Bissells, Dirt Devils - insert your brand here - all working overtime for a thousand thousand years. You are an absolute, irredeemable genetic mistake and your parents could spend a thousand thousand years apologizing to all humanity for bringing your miserable, shriveled, rotten, putrescent, rank soul into the world and even that wouldn't begin to atone for their crime. You could dig upward for a thousand thousand years and still find yourself nowhere near the level of the dirt beneath our feet.

Whew, I needed that.

Amazingly, Chambliss seems to think mutation means something similar to mute - so even on non-political issues he is not too bright.
