This is just the type of thing that could very easily bite a Democrat in the ass as well. Adultery is tragic always no matter who it involves. We rail againstt the Repukes for ttying to be the Morality Police even when they do "keep it zipped". We don't need to play the same role.

Shame on Ensign.....but this is not something that should force him to resign...It's up to the People of Nevada to make that call.

1. Vitter didn't walk the plank. It's only problematic if it's with a subordinate or you pay for it. NT

17. Vitter was getting freebies?
Did you mean to say "it's only problematic if you're a Democrat"?

21. There's no solid evidence of money changing hands with Vitter, even though we know it surely
occurred. With Spitzer, OTOH, he not only paid the woman, but he used rather limp "business travel" as his cover/excuse in scheduling his opportunistic liaisons and he co-mingled funds. It was easy to follow the money.

Same way with Barney Frank--he had a live-in who was a prostitute, but we don't know if that live-in charged him, or what. There was no evidence that this happened. Now, not to say that wasn't a problem, but he persevered and got through it. Of course, that happened before a lot of people here were even born!

Of course, there is selective enforcement with the senior-subordinate thing, too. Clinton-Lewinsky? Major Problem. Gingrich and his staffer (or staff polisher, if you will)? Less of a problem, though he did end up going away (and now he's back, married to the woman).

10. I'm not willing to ignore Republican corruption,
for the sake of protecting corrupt Democrats.

That is not the Democratic way.

This is not about team, it's about principles and ideology.

I do not want corrupt politicians, no mater what party they belong to.

16. Hypocrisy is corruption

I don't care about his personal life, as long as he does not bring it into his politics and then lies about it.

If he practices wife swapping, and runs on a platform of wife swapping, and get elected on that platform, I have no quarrel.

But if he advocates chastity, and schtoops anything that moves, then I would have an issue with him.

22. Apologists for WHAT?
Apologists for adultery, or apologists for "hanging 'em high" for living an imperfect life?

Seems like there's a bit going on here from both camps.

isn't illegal.

If Ensign chooses to resign that's his call, but Democrats can't push the issue. They shouldn't.
