OK, this is a list of guests at various Obama fund raisers and other events.

Why is there outrage if O doesn't want to release the names of little girls who come to sleep overs?! I don't know what this has to do with transparency. I thought we wanted to know things that was going on in Pentagon or one of the many government departments. and it's division across the nation. I didn't know so much of it went to a guest list. Look...I'm not getting your complaint. I don't know I don't see it. Did we complain about this under Clinton? Reagan? the First Bush? The second Bush? If we did...why did we waste so much time on it? Getting a few people to come over to the White House from time to time doesn't bug me if we can open dialogue and get some stuff done. Dunno, maybe I'm naive. I don't see the big deal.

19. The request was for a list of coal company exec visits.

At least the request from CREW. The point would be to see if there is any undue consonance between the points of view/interests of those coal company representatives/execs and the Obama Administration, which is now apparently fine with blasting the tops off of mountains as a coal mining process.

Likewise, under W, there were requests for lists of Evangelical visitors... to see if there was any evidence to be gleaned of the White House being unduly influenced thereby. Also, I think there were requests for lists of Energy Industry visitors, to look for ties to Enron, which of course soon after went down and took billions of California dollars of fraud with it...

That's the deal. If Obama resists these FOIA requests then it suggests that he is worried about the possibility of guilt by association from the guests that he's inviting... which also suggests that he's planning to invite visitors that are liable to "en-guiltify" the administration by association. Of course... if the administration had every intention of admitting and taking responsibility for and even explaining the reasons for all visitors... then why block FOIA requests for those lists?...

I have no problem with an exclusion for family and friends, I have a huge problem with hiding the people coming over to do business with the executive.

CLUE: the white house is the both the official residence of the executive and the main office of the executive where most of the activities of the executive are carried out. I don't care who comes over to play with the Obama girls, I do care who comes over to play with President Obama. The previous regime made that latter activity a secret and we were promised that this sort of bullshit was going to stop.
