5. I guess some of the DUers are right...
this revolution has 'CIA' all over it. It's definitely staged. :eyes:

Then again, I'd be kind of surprised if the CIA weren't "helping things along", adding their own twitters and uploading some of those cool revolution pics.

10. No, because apparently the two candidates are two sides of the same coin
As if that is what this is all about.

11. why do you say "apparently"
Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 10:44 AM by Teaser
you don't sound confident of that.

I would humbly suggest that those getting tear gassed right are a bit more confident as to which candidate represents reform, from their perspective.

12. I was being sardonic
Sorry that didn't come across. Regardless, it's my extremely humble opinion that this has gone far beyond whether one supports one candidate or another. I think the people protesting now are upset because they think their votes were not counted, and that the government is showing itself as tyrannical and unrepresentative. It seems to me that these demonstrations are more against the system than they are for Mousavi. That's where I think the people trying to say how bad Mousavi supposedly is miss the point.

They say "be skeptical of the demonstrators because Mousavi isn't any better than Ahmedinajad". I say, for starters, that he is better than Ahmedinajad because regardless of his past activities, he at least proposes to try and get along with the west. This is as opposed to Ahmedinajad who revels in making relations worse and worse, increasing the probability that something could go horribly awry. Secondly, I see every reason to support the protesters. They are young, relatively secular people of my own generation going up against the staid, theocratic government which seeks to bring back the middle ages. That makes any qualities of their figurehead leader less relevant to me.
