Local MI GM dealership blames Obama for being shut-down

Dealer blames Obama administration

GM to close Roberts too

LAPEER -- And then there were two. Down from four, area residents will eventually have only two choices to purchase a General Motors Corp. car or truck in Lapeer County.

George Roberts, owner of Roberts Buick-Pontiac, confirmed Friday that he was one of the 250 GM dealers nationwide to receive so-called "wind down" letters June. 1. On May 15 Victor George Chevrolet was informed that after 83 years GM would not be renewing it's franchise agreement with the Mayfield Township dealership next October.

...

It's going to get very ugly before it gets better," Roberts said. He said closing his dealership won't just mean 20 people losing their jobs, it will mean 20 families, roughly 150 people, losing their livelihoods. "I've got an obligation to those families, Roberts said, adding, "I've talked to guys who have a tremendous amount of debt they've contracted for."

Roberts blamed GM and Chrysler's decision to shed dealerships on the Obama administration. Bruce Milnes, who was one of two GM dealers in the county to receive participation letters from the one-time auto giant agreed saying, "GM wouldn't have done this without the federal government."

"I'm going to sell all my vehicles, sell all my parts, go on down the road, and hope that (Obama) doesn't get re-elected," said Roberts. "The first 120 days (of the Obama administration) have been an absolute disaster."

1. And without the bailout where would he be?
These morons couldn't put 2 + 2 together to save their ass.

2. It's not patriotic to criticize the president of the United States
that just gives aid and comfort to Al Qaeda.

I doubt very seriously that this jerkoff voted for Obama, so we're not losing anything.

3. I'm going to assume that Roberts is an older white guy that voted for Bush twice & McCain once.
Since he thinks Obama has been an absolute disaster in his first 120 days, I'd also be curious to see how he would define the 8 years under Bush.

4. Roberts is right. GM wouldn't have taken the path they did without federal interference.
They'd have gone into bankruptcy 6 months ago.

6. What an idiot! If no GM bailout, the company would've been liquidated
in bankruptcy! There'd be NO General Motors whatsoever if it weren't for the bailout. The company would've been sold off into pieces and he still would've lost his dealership. Anyway, I am glad he got the boot cause it sounds like he's a deserving guy.

7. Based on his level of stupidity, he must be a Republican.
Maybe his dealership was closed they figured out that George Roberts was too stupid to run it.

8. I'm going to go on down the road and hope this guy gets a new job
I do hope he realizes that it's not up to the US taxpayers to subsidize GM's inefficient dealer network endlessly.
