23. That guy doesn't know dogs
That reaching out and slapping motion is guaranteed to get a dog to bite. Those reporters need some lessons in how to behave around dogs.

I guess when they have to start replacing expensive equipment they'll learn.

45. I know! I was wondering whether I was being a Scrooge to think that
The camera operator had to hang on to the camera and couldn't really do anything to stop him, but shouldn't the guy walking him have helped her out? I don't blame Bo, obviously--he's a puppy--but I thought that it would have been nice for someone to try to distract him or something.

18. Yes and no. I LOVE those kids ... but I sure want them to stay ''grounded" and safe.
I'm one of the biggest suckers around for anything and everything to do with the First Daughters but I'd take a bullet for them, too. I'd hate to have anything that jeopardized their emotional and physical health.

22. Bo is not "their" dog..
Edited on Wed Jun-03-09 05:33 PM by SoCalDem
Unfortunately, those little girls did not have the opportunity to go and pick out a fluffy little puppy that they could baby and fuss over as little puppy-mommies. They were "given" a political pet..a rambunctious almost-grown male animal. They needed a 6 or 10 wk old female poodle puppy. They got a galumphing several-months old hound..who has chosen their Dad as favorite.

Sadly, the whole episode reminded me of when my clueless Mom got my sister a "stamp collection" at a garage sale... she thought my sister "needed a hobby", so she bought her an already filled in stamp collection book..

37. same with my dog and my father
it was supposed to be us kids' dog, but my it was clearly my father's idea and choice.

Back to Bo: he's just acting like an adolescent. My 9-month old DestructoCat behaves the same way: if it's there, it's to be shredded. Come to think about it, my dog ate a hymnal at about that age.

Of course the dog chose Obama: they look for the dominant person.

11. Bo is a puppy, acting like a puppy
Lesson here, don't stick something that may be interesting to a puppy in a puppy's face, they will grab it and chew it. The press loves him. But use some common sense. Everybody there wanted to play with Bo. So cute.

20. You could also tell he has a "soft mouth" and didn't bite HANDS stuck in his mouth.
Like ANY puppy under a year old, he'll chew ANYTHING that's chewable. But he's obviously been trained to know people aren't for chewing. That's good. His teeth are still VERY sharp and it's important to establish the "chew boundaries" very early and firmly.

26. I think he has lost his puppy teeth by now, he is 7 or 8 months old
So not puppy teeth. He is a good boy, just playing with that funny thing that they stuck in his face. He was very well behaved when he was having his belly rubbed. I think he likes the limelight. LOL.

Dogs teeth are strong, but not impervious to metal!

But if you stick something tempting in front of a puppy, don't be surprised when they grab it. LOL.

34. Yikes...probably not a good idea the way she put her hand up to his mouth
to get the mike sock loose. Not that he would have hurt her on purpose but still being a puppy he easily could have dropped the sock in exchange for some flesh.

43. No, the teasing is far worse. Bo won't bite you hard, but if you get 'em worked up...
...then he'll definately overbite. The teasing is creating bad behavior, though, biting should always be seen as bad.
