"Huge growth" in Rachel Maddow Show ratings for May

"The Rachel Maddow Show" once again out-rated "Larry King Live" in A25-54, beating the CNN program by 6% (247,000 vs. 232,000). This is the seventh time in eight months that "Rachel Maddow" has beaten CNN in the hour. "The Rachel Maddow Show" was the fastest growing cable news show in the hour in total viewers, up a huge 60% (895,000 vs. 560,000)

. "The Rachel Maddow Show" was also up 14% in A25-54 (247,000 vs. 217,000). "The Rachel Maddow Show" also out-rated CNN among younger viewers, A18-34 (80,000 vs. 51,000).

25-54 yrs old which are important to advertisers. Her overall ratings are 4x that much.

If something they say is wrong or slanted that deserves to be called out too and it doesn't make someone believe no negative comment shall be made about Obama. It is called a discussion board for a reason. Rachael will not be everyone's cup of tea and neither will Keith. Obama will make decisions that will make them unhappy or that they will give him kudos for if deserved. Rachael will make mistakes, as will Keith and Obama. I wish we could just celebrate good news without it degenerating into a game of insults.

Growing up - schizo = multiple personality; I still fall back on old lingo at times even though I know better.

I don't have a problem with "all kinds of personalities under the tent" (it should be a strength), though it does appear to be an issue of late. I think perhaps some people overstate their positions using loaded language, though this appears to be an attention getting ploy it often instigates serious arguments.

to about 1 million. That she's up from her series low (May 15th) of about 700k is nothing to really celebrate. Hell, even reruns of The Office beat Larry King occasionally.

28. They were using the October/November numbers when EVERYONE in the country was interested, and

comparing them to now, when most people in the country don't watch as much political talk, as it's not an election year.

Back in October/November every show's numbers were much higher than they are now, so those trying to point it to just Rachel Maddow are being disingenuous.

Viewed through the narrow lens of October/November ratings and current ratings, EVERY SHOW would be tanking.

May 2009 was the first month since September 2006 that Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" declined against the previous year in the A25-54 demo. In May 2009, Olbermann averaged 323,000 A25-54 viewers, down 21% from his primaries-fueled May 2008 average of 408,000 (though up considerably from May 2007's average of 200,000).

I like her because she speaks her mind and communicates very clearly.

She doesn't try to be an air head like the rest of the bunch.
