The GOP's fanatical, jaw-dropping racism, sealed my full commitment to this SC nomination.
I keep thinking I can't be surprised anymore by the ugliness and evil of the fanatical right (which is now synonymous with the GOP.)

Yes, I strongly believe that we need more liberal judges. I believe this because I believe that more liberal judges more accurately interpret the law and the constitution. When we keep not getting this done, as when we keep not tackling the fundamental aspects of our society that are so incredibly broken by bringing back actual liberalism and stopping this American slide to the ludicrous right - we put the stability of our country and the futures of our children at greater risk. I'll never apologize for being more liberal than Obama or the bulk of the current Democratic Party....

....but having said that, the insane rancor coming from the GOP only solidifies my support for getting this done.

1. I agree. Their rancor on this nomination is reprehensible.
I just hope there are many women and rethugs paying attention. I suspect many in both categories of people must be outraged.

I also think this judge is the best nominee for this moment. Regardless of who was nominated, the gop and their minions would find something to kvetch about. They think their loud whining will help them raise money, but I really hope it has the opposite effect.

2. Like a wounded animal in a cave...
they are lashing out at anything and everything. And exposing their true selves in the process. Racist, bigoted, mysoginistic, homophodes with no ideas other than "less taxes, less regulation, and we don't think government should do anything other than start wars and torture prisoners".

They are already marginalized, soon they may be about as powerful and as popular as the Constitution Party.

3. I think most Americans aren't racist because Obama wouldn't have won
The media has truly failed very publicly this time. They've actually invited this racist hatred on their shows and let them vomit it all over our screens without even lifting a finger. So, having finally shown themselves to be total journalistic failures and even supportive of racism by giving it a national platform without bothering to even pretend to question it is working to shock the decent Americans who voted in the last election.

I feel shocked at the blatancy of the racism and at the coddling of it by the media. I'm sure most Americans do too. Everywhere there are observations just like yours being expressed. After a week of this we've barely had time to recover from the shock of it. I know the beast is most dangerous when it's dying, but I didn't expect this.

4. The Right has gone critical and is approaching meltdown.
They need to do some serious soul searching, and we all know they have none. :)
