Who was the "reporter" that just asked Gibbs about Obama's birth certificate?
Edited on Wed May-27-09 01:18 PM by Dawgs
He said that there is a petition of 400,000 asking for a copy of the birth certificate, and why hasn't Obama released it.

Has Jeff Gannon returned to the press briefings?

UPDATE: The "reporter" is really a right-wing gay hating talk show host from Baltimore. His name is Lester Kinsolving.

well after Obama made his birth certificate available.

5. How can we put an end to this stupidity?
What will it take for those idiots to believe the truth? Who in their opinion would be worthy of comment and their trust and belief? Oh... never mind... they only believe the lies. I forgot for a split second there. Idiots. I'm sick to death of willfully ignorant idiots.

12. Nothing will put an end to it
conspiracy thories tend to have a life of their own. Especially as time goes on and they are debunked again and again, the only ones left are the hardcore weirdos for whom nothing will work. Right now they are yammering on having somebody take a look at the "original" document, even though that's been done already. If for some reason somebody did get in to see the "original" document in the vault that wouldn't stop the whackos, they would simply call the person viewing the thing a co-conspirator, no matter who it was or claim the falsified document was placed in the vault.

People that ask questions like that should simply be black-balled from the WH Press Room or failing that simply not allowed to ask a question.

34. Proof of that is that one of their own went to Hawaii to investigate
and found the newspaper from days after his birth that announced his birth at the Hawaiian hospital. It was a paper that only got birth information from the hospital
Birthday notice in August 13, 1961 Honolulu Advertiser

Explore that site, http://obamasneighborhood.com/
It is put together by Hawaiians about his Hawaiian experience. They are very proud of their native son.

Anyway back to the crazy people. Once that right winger realized Obama was born there (and to their credit reported it) they developed new conspiracy theories, mostly about him being adopted by his stepfather and renouncing American citizenship. An odd theory since Obama moved back to live with his grandparents in 1971, around his 19th birthday and per that site his mom and little sister moved back in 1973, the marriage was over. (they have that info with pictures of the homes they lived in at the link above. It's the "Barry Obama Slept Here" section) He'd be driven to become and remain an Indonesian citizen? They swear it's why he won't release his college transcripts or his passport.

And do they really think neither the Clinton nor McCain campaign had a really good look at this? But in any case those who think the plot is that he wasn't born here are way behind the times. They are on to new "he isn't a citizen" conspiracies.

Really you can't blame them. Obama is evidently the first candidate who didn't go door to door with their original birth certificate and college transcripts for every citizen to examine.

13. Nothing will end their assholeness on this matter. Nothing.
You could hand them the original document and they'd cry "fake".

You could take them back in time and show them Obama's birth and they'd find some other excuse.

I think Obama should "preventively detain" them.

Edited on Wed May-27-09 01:33 PM by CoffeeCat
I tune in to talk radio from time to time, and I couldn't believe it when I heard
Mark Levin and Hannity both spending lots of angry time on this birth certificate
issue!

They insist that Obama's orginal birth certificate has never been revealed. I forget
the other garbage they said, but they have many other assertions about Obama
really being a Muslim and not being born in the US.

There's some right-wing hate author who has taken up this cause. Sorry I can't remember
the name of the author. When I listen to this malarkey I have to half listen, otherwise
I'd need antacids.

edited to add: The author is Jerome Coursi.

16. It's their "never die" issue as it can never be totally proved or disproved
they will say any document shown is a forgery and have some blogger expert say so. The wack job conspiracy theories like this will keep their lust for hate fed and no amount of proof will be good enough to have them admit a mistake.

17. Even the freepers are starting to wane on this trumped up ridiculousness.
I waded over into that cesspool yesterday and there was a post by some Freeper saying he had spoke to Berg and that all they needed was to raise $1 -$2 million so that they could bribe one of Obama's half-siblings into requesting the orginal.

About 2/3 of the comments that followed were about how they knew they were pawns used by Berg and Taitz to make money off of them.

One comment in particular stood out. It said something to the effect of:

"Why on earth would Berg actually want to find the orginal copy. How could he keep making money off of us?"

24. i wish people would just be honest as to what this is about
nobody was consumed with fears about previous presidents being insufficiently american, or part of some secret conspiracy a half century in the making, to elect a manchurian candidate for the terrorists by faking being born here. it has nothing to do with being from "exotic" hawaii, nor the specifics of having an african father or an indonesian step-father, or any other potentially muslim relatives; obama could have been born and raised on a farm in oklahoma by two parents raised right in the heartland, and there would be people claiming he's a secret mexican, plotting to turn the government over to illegal immigrants, or he's some other form of radical. to a certain segment of so called "real" americans, being non-white makes you suspect; it makes you less loyal to your country, it makes you un-american, and it means you're not to be trusted in a seat of power. no amount of flag pins or certified hospital paperwork will make obama less brown, that's the real source of their suspicion.

Well, except when they're just making shit up, we put the word "reverse" in front of it. In that case, you'll see it on every news show, for hours on end, everyday.

But that's different.

28. If you want to see video Politico has it
I know some of you hate Politico but it is interesting to watch Gibbs reaction and all the other reporters laughing at Kinsolving.

http://www.politico.com/politico44/perm/0509/birth_certificate_question_e8528fd4-ea6f-451f-a236-76cc4b65b29d.html

Gibbs appeared incredulous. “You’re looking for the president’s birth certificate? It’s on the Internet, Lester.”

“Long-form, listing his hospital and physician,” Kinsolving clarified.

Laughing, Gibbs replied: “Lester, this question, in many ways, continues to astound me. The state of Hawaii provided a copy with the seal of the president’s birth.

“I know there are, apparently, at least 400,000 people who continue to doubt the existence of and the certification by the state of Hawaii, of the president’s birth there,” he continued. “But it’s on the Internet because we put it on the Internet for each of those 400,000 to download. I certainly hope by the fourth year of our administration that we’ll have dealt with this burgeoning birth controversy.”
