Senator Reid, I am sorry about your future illness and your inability to stay on as Majority Leader
Senator Reid's disastorous performace as Leader of the Majority is reaching epic proportions and yesterday's disaster on the Gitmo vote shows that for Senator Reid that the only thing he is really concerned about is his survival as a Senator from Nevada.

http://www.pollster.com/blogs/nc_2010_senate_masondixon51214.php

Favorable / Unfavorable
Pres. Obama (D): 55 / 30
Sen. Reid (D): 38 / 50
Sen. Ensign (R): 53 / 18

If the 2010 election for Nevada's U.S. Senate seat were held today, would you vote to re-elect incumbent Harry Reid, would you consider voting for a challenger, or would you definitely vote to replace Reid?

35% Re-elect
17% Consider
45% Replaced

As he is now very vulnerable he has to consider everything he does on how it will play in Reno, and we cannot have the Senate of the United States held hostage while his career flames out.

He can't step down as Majority Leader as that would really finish him off.

So the only alternative is for you to reduce the extra work that you bear as Majority Leader and concentrate on the illness and your responsibility as Senator.

So whether it is yourself, or a close family member who you will have to spend more time with, or a beloved canine we send you our deepest sympathy and concern and will hold you in our daily prayer.

Send us an address for flower delivery.

Now go and spend more time on your recovery/with your ailing family member/or your sick dog.

Just go.

3. FUTURE illness?
Isn't "complete lack of a fucking spine" (which he has right now) considered a serious medical condition?

4. Its a requirement for the Senate

We need a compounding illness to actually take him out.

5. For the life of me I can't comprehend the stupidity and spinelessness of Reid
He has a popular President he could coattail into another term by standing firmly with Obama's agenda or he can continue to be a spineless wimp and constantly capitulate. His ship has sailed - he always was and always will be worthless.

I was wrong.

How bout we pick a leader from a safe democratic state like Illinois or California. Senator Dubrin or Senator Boxxer come to mind.

10. I understand but we can't have the Senate hijacked for an entire year
while he frets around about his future.

11. if beating Reid is such a sure thing
you'd think republicans would be clamoring to challenge him.

So, who's running against Reid in 2010?

14. I never said that beating Reid is a sure thing

just that his numbers are terrible and that he is so preoccupied with his unpopularity in NV that he is unable to lead the US Senate.

Let Reid go back to being the Senator from NV and lets get some new leadership that isn't trying to survive bad poll numbers.

17. The most likely challenger just got charged w/ some felonies
Krolicki, I believe his name is, and the felonies aren't "real" felonies but technical ones.

15. Reid was a knee-jerk choice after Daschle was voted-out in 04

A religious, dull man.

He really needs to go. IMHO, Schumer should get the job because of his work at DSCC.

16. I am begining to wish that SOS Clinton was still in the Senate

Schumer voted for the ammendment yesterday. He is very smart but doesn't take very strong public positions especially given the fact that his seat is so safe.
