4. So far, not one person has voted "no." So why is it that, it seems
to be the case that so many here would excuse the President for not wanting to prosecute those responsible for these crimes?

6. Because that's not true..
The President wants the former admin to be investigated as demonstrated by his directive to his AG to investigate.

Do you have any examples of DU'ers saying it's okay to not investigate?

7. He needs to get it off his shoulders so that he can move forward on other issues.
Until he does people will look to him to get it done and continue to be very unhappy when he doesn't.
For the country's sake but also for his own and his administration's sake he needs to appoint one asap.

10. I would like to think he noes this but his plate is so full...he is almost choking on the LOAD
Just imagine if Sarah was there...damn

But back to the point, I happen to think he wants it to happen but by others(Thats US) putting pressure...like immense pressure to do this purging of secrets and dirty deeds by a Special Prosecutor..

I have faith this will eventually happen...the econ is the big issue at the moment...without FLOW going again...many segments of our Nation will start to falter ...ie...California...21 bill in the hole...for THIS YEAR...

President Obama is quietly fighting to stave off a major DEPRESSION....thats the National FOCUS

War Crimes have no time limit....they will burn in jail soon enough

14. Let's make that so. :)
"War Crimes have no time limit....they will burn in jail soon enough"

by keeping up the pressure for a special prosecutor. I want them to be OVER, and the only way to do that is to hold thme accountable and move on. If we move on without holding them accountable they will never be over. Ever.

The sources, all of whom asked not to be identified because of the White House insistence that the meeting was private, also said Attorney General Eric Holder sat by silently while the president curtly dismissed the idea that his Justice Department should criminally prosecute at least one Bush administration official for torture, if only as a symbolic move to demonstrate that actions such as waterboarding will never be tolerated again.

While declining to talk about any of the specific back and forth, American Civil Liberties Union executive director Anthony Romero told Newsweek he was not happy by much of what he heard during the meeting. Obama showed a "remarkable command" of the issues, Romero said. But, he added, "it is disappointing that he appears poised to continue with many of the Bush policies that have ended in failure. If he goes down that track, President Obama will find himself in the same legal morass that swallowed up George Bush."
