GQ: The top secret slideshow of war images with inspiration Bible quotes Rummy prepared for Bush
Edited on Sun May-17-09 07:31 AM by flpoljunkie
ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

THESE NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN DOCUMENTS FROM THE RUMSFELED PENTAGON MIXED RELIGION AND WAR

In the days surrounding the U.S. invasion of Iraq, cover sheets--like the ones in this exclusive GQ.com slideshow--began adorning top-secret intelligence briefings produced by Ronald Rumsfeld's Pentagon. The sheets juxtaposed war images with inspirational Bible quotes and were delivered by Rumsfeld himself to the White House, where they were read by the man whom, just after September 11, referred to America's war on terror as a "crusade."

The GQ article on Rummy in which this slideshow is featured:

AND HE SHALL BE JUDGED

Former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld has always answered his detractors by claiming that history will one day judge him kindly. But as he waits for that day, a new group of critics—his administration peers—are suddenly speaking out for the first time. What they’re saying? It isn’t pretty

By Robert Draper

ON THE MORNING OF Thursday, April 10, 2003, Donald Rumsfeld’s Pentagon prepared a top-secret briefing for George W. Bush. This document, known as the Worldwide Intelligence Update, was a daily digest of critical military intelligence so classified that it circulated among only a handful of Pentagon leaders and the president; Rumsfeld himself often delivered it, by hand, to the White House. The briefing’s cover sheet generally featured triumphant, color images from the previous days’ war efforts: On this particular morning, it showed the statue of Saddam Hussein being pulled down in Firdos Square, a grateful Iraqi child kissing an American soldier, and jubilant crowds thronging the streets of newly liberated Baghdad. And above these images, and just below the headline SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, was a quote that may have raised some eyebrows. It came from the Bible, from the book of Psalms: “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him…To deliver their soul from death.”

This mixing of Crusades-like messaging with war imagery, which until now has not been revealed, had become routine. On March 31, a U.S. tank roared through the desert beneath a quote from Ephesians: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” On April 7, Saddam Hussein struck a dictatorial pose, under this passage from the First Epistle of Peter: “It is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.” (To see these and more Bush-administration intelligence cover sheets, visit GQ.com’s exclusive slideshow).

These cover sheets were the brainchild of Major General Glen Shaffer, a director for intelligence serving both the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the secretary of defense. In the days before the Iraq war, Shaffer’s staff had created humorous covers in an attempt to alleviate the stress of preparing for battle. Then, as the body counting began, Shaffer, a Christian, deemed the biblical passages more suitable. Several others in the Pentagon disagreed. At least one Muslim analyst in the building had been greatly offended; others privately worried that if these covers were leaked during a war conducted in an Islamic nation, the fallout—as one Pentagon staffer would later say—“would be as bad as Abu Ghraib.”

But the Pentagon’s top officials were apparently unconcerned about the effect such a disclosure might have on the conduct of the war or on Bush’s public standing. When colleagues complained to Shaffer that including a religious message with an intelligence briefing seemed inappropriate, Shaffer politely informed them that the practice would continue, because “my seniors”—JCS chairman Richard Myers, Rumsfeld, and the commander in chief himself—appreciated the cover pages.

2. That's some pretty obscene imagery. I'm reccing this, because more people need to see this.
What an astounding thing. In the big picture, it's not all that astounding, but still--who would think that Rummy would be quite such a pandering, sick, turdlet? Mendacious, sure, but that level of pandering surprises me.

Couldn't even cokeboy sense the sycophancy in those sick word and image creations?

However, these cover slides are obscene. I wonder who actually made these? Rumsfeld himself? An assistant?

I look forward to reading the article.

It's so obvious that these were meant to manipulate GWB himself. I wonder if he ever realized it?

7. It HAD to be an assistant....probably one of his chiefs of staff. An 06 at least.
Rummy couldn't turn on the computer to save his life--that's what "servants"...er, subordinates were for. He used to do all his work standing up at a slanted drafting table--no computer for him! The servants, er, subordinates printed everything out for him.

Just when you thought you couldn't be more surprised...along comes another tidbit!

When colleagues complained to Shaffer that including a religious message with an intelligence briefing seemed inappropriate, ...

Gee--ya think???

If you don't laugh, you cry! I just cannot imagine a military operating in such a crazed environment.

Software and information technology firm dNovus RDI has been acquired by a Florida company for $38 million.

Kforce Inc. (NASDAQ: KFRC), a professional staffing and solutions firm based in Tampa, Fla., purchased San Antonio-based dNovus with plans to move further into the federal government sector where dNovus is already a prime contractor. dNovus provides applied information technology services to the federal government and currently operates in 17 states. The company had revenue of $32 million for the 12 months ended Sept. 30.

Kforce expects the purchase will produce a future cash benefit of $8 million. At the same time, dNovus delivered $3 million in working capital at the time of closing, company officials said.

The acquisition will be financed with debt. Kforce currently has $42 million in debt outstanding.

It’s the first acquisition Kforce has completed in nearly two years, and one that could push the company’s government services segment over the $100 million revenue mark in 2009, said Kforce CEO David Dunkel in a prepared statement. dNovus has 250 employees, based mostly around San Antonio, Austin, and Washington, D.C.

Joining Kforce Government Solutions (KGS) division through dNovus are former company president Glen Shaffer, a retired U.S. Air Force major general and the one-time intelligence director for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Shaffer will become an executive vice president with KGS, said division President Larry Grant, in a prepared statement.

26. What has Joshua Dubois had to say about this?
He's Obama's cheif of faith based stuff. Wonder how he feels about faith debased stuff. But of course, the religion only comes up in politics when they want to deny someone some rights. Talk about war and blasphemy and their faith is oddly silent and unavailable for comment. Mention torture and they press finger to lip, shush, they say, for the murders were legal and done in good faith. Good faith, they say about torture. About muder.

Edited on Sun May-17-09 06:55 PM by nichomachus
The Islamic extremists understand torture. They use it. They know we use it. They're pissed that we do, but they see it as part of the game.

However, the idea of us waging a Crusade against them is what really sets their shorts on fire. They will kill you for trying to convert a Muslim.

This will paint a huge, glowing cross on the back of every service man and woman in the Middle East.

I wonder why we didn't ban these pictures?

I hope everyone who scrolls through this slide show can see how Rumsfeld and Cheney weren't just "manipulating" Bush. He was a target of a sophisticated psyop.

I'm certainly not relieving Bush of blame, but just pointing out how dangerous a stupid, evil, manipulatable president is.

If Rumsfeld used psyops against the press and public (as has been reported), isn't it obvious that the design of this stuff was also done by psyops, and based on Bush's psychological deficits?
