1. It should.
Our health system is fine (Canada).
It is the right wing propaganda and fear that they cannot rape sick people out of their money which motivates the conservative.

2. It's like the credit card thing, eh?
Obama calls in the credit card companies to tell them to knock shit off.

They don't.

Congress passes the credit card bill of rights.

Obama calls in the health care companies...

6. Dean said what I've been saying all along.
He plays with them---he gives them enough string and says work with me. They fuck up and/or don't follow through and then they look like idiots. In the end, everything Obama wants gets through. You notice now we can use reconciliation. Why do you think that is? It went through when the Repubs bet against the O and the American people. People may not like to think O is playing a game...but really he has a set strategy that has yet to fail.

3. I agree with Thom Hartmann. They played into Obama's strategy
Edited on Fri May-15-09 04:31 PM by Thrill
Obama overstates their willingness to work with him. And then when they say no no, we didn't mean that. It will make it easier to get a serious Public Option. He'll be able to say, they told me they were serious, but they aren't. Much like he exposed the Republicans as having no ideas during the stimulus debate.

4. Not single payer----what will happen is that they won't have any say on legislation.
But O is already aware that these idiots are liars.

POTUS Tells Health Care Groups to Show Him Progress on Cost-Cutting Next Month

In a letter to the leaders of the six health care groups with whom he met yesterday, President Obama says he appreciates their commitment to significantly reducing health care costs, but says he "will hold you to your pledge to get this done."

The President writes that as he discussed with them Monday, "I would like you to update my Administration by early June on the progress you have made toward fulfilling this important commitment."
