The silence of the Dems
Edited on Tue May-12-09 04:11 AM by John Q. Citizen
Why are the Democrats afraid to criticize single payer health insurance?

It scares the crap out of them.

Democrats will speak out against crime. The are against it, and they won't vote for it. They will vote to fight crime.

Yet I haven't heard one Democrat come out and attack the problems of single payer insurance.

Instead they ignore the problem. As if they is going to make it go away!

Democrats will vote against meth, They will speak out against it. They will have news conferences about why it's bad for people. They will pass laws against it.

Yet they won't pass laws against single payer insurance. They just ignore the problem.

They coddle the single payer insurers. In fact they just doubled the single payer insurance bank accounts get. They won't vote against single payer insurance. They won't deal with single payer insurance.

What are they afraid of? If they don't like it it, why not? If they do like it, why?

3. I'm praying they are keeping their powder dry and trap shut on the issue...
...to shake out those INSIDE who are going to be peeing in the tent.

They already have Bayh and crew who've been bought and paid for since the average citizen doesn't like the payments paid to health insurance companies.

4. Baucus pre-emptively took single payer off the table. yet he won't tell us why he hates single paye
why he won't even allow an expert in the medical field who supports single payer to testify at his hearings?

I would think it would be a great opportunity for Max to ask tough questions and discredit single payer once and for all.

He's scared shitless. He's afraid to come out against single payer or to come out for single payer.

He's a coward.

5. Single payer would take too long and allow reThugs to cancel it while public option can be
...implemented in less than 2 years.

If the GOP was more trustworthy single payer would be doable, they're not...like what they've done with the SEC they would let the implementation of the program fail.

Yes, they're that horrible.

7. You miss my point entirely. The Repos get a seat at the table and witnesses. but we don't?
Insurance companies get a seat at the table, but we don't?

I'm not saying Max has to bite the insurance hand that feeds him, and allow a single payer bill to proceed, just that we need an open honest debate, and since a majority of Americans in many polls support single payer, we should at least get a chance to present evidence, just like everybody else.

Max is a tyrant. He won't allow a free exchange of ideas. Fuck him!

He hasn't even come out for a public pool. He's like, uh, i don't know. You are aware of his voting record as regards financial services, (including insurance) aren't you? He would make any Repo proud.

handed out by insurance companies/HMOs/Pharma..every time they run for office..

There was an "order" to things that should have been followed, in order to get single payer.. they're tackling things our of order, so it may fail..

1. MEDIA "de-consolidation"
2. Financial regulation
3. Public financing of elections
4. No more lobbyists/corporate special interest groups

after these were accomplished, we could have had single payer..
