Republican Blogger Hopes Obama Appoints Sen. Klobuchar for SCOTUS
http://www.poligazette.com/2009/05/08/a-possible-grand-bargain-in-minnesota/

"Appointing Klobochar made open space for a compromise solution, however. In exchange for Republican support for Klobuchar’s nomination, the Obama administration could acquiesce to a scenario by which Republican Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (himself on many short lists of potential Republican candidates for the Presidency in 2012) would certify the election of Democrat Al Franken, the Coleman campaign would then drop its legal appeals, and then Pawlenty would appoint Coleman to fill Klobuchar’s Senate seat. This scenario might succeed on multiple fronts: It would placate Republicans’ last-ditch defense of relevance and a modicum of minority power in D.C. at the same time it would seat Franken, whose acerbic and even abusive and vulgar hyper-partisanship is beloved among the denizens of the far left. It would also retain a general tone of moderation in the Minnesota Senate delegation, however, as Klobuchar’s pragmatism is mirrored by Coleman’s at least to the maximum extent possible across the current partisan chasm. A Klobuchar appointment could open the door to a compromise solution for Minnesota’s unprecedented electoral tie."

I, for one, think that it would be an unprecedented political blunder to nominate Klobuchar or any other Democratic senator from a state with a Republican governor. We need every vote we can get in the senate. I do think though that this is the wishful thinking of a right-winger...

1. Sure, that'll happen!
 Coleman would then take her seat?:rofl:

I'm sure the president will be nominating a SCJ just so normie can get back into the Senate.

2. Huh?
Coleman fucking lost. F him. Klouchbar and Franken should be Minnesota's senators. Any other "compromise" is bullshit.

I'd be curious if the blogger is connected to the GOP or just speculating?
Back in the day when the two parties talked, compromised, and reached deals, this sounds like the kind of deal they'd make. Pawlenty could nominate himself, or concede the defeat of Coleman, but then nominate Coleman to the empty Senate seat. Franken could be seated, the balance of power would remain unchanged, and both sides could claim victory.

It's not a good deal and I wouldn't take it, but I wonder if it's a deal that the GOP leadership is really putting on the table?

4. I think so.
The courts still have to determine who actually won the election; of course, it was Franken and this will be determined and EVERYONE knows it. So this "deal" would be GIVING a seat to the GOP, which is completely and totally unacceptable. I would campaign AGAINST a Klobuchar nomination and consider it an unforgivable blunder.

5. Unprecedented electoral tie?
Someone needs to educate me, because I don't see how Franken receiving a greater number of votes than Coleman equals a tie.

7. Wow, I just realized this blogger endorsed Obama for president...
http://www.poligazette.com/2008/10/25/endorsements-part-i/

I suppose he wants the GOP to be able to block a progressive agenda but voted for Obama.

And he supports gay marriage:

I suppose there are ideologically eclectic people out there.

8. The idea that the Norm Coleman obstructionism is some sort of chip to play is so typical.
No deal. They are owed nothing but subpoenas and scorn.

10. If that cross-eyed weasel is elected President, I'm leaving.
It's bad enough that he's governor or my state. I hate him with every fiber of my being.
