Cornyn thinks Crist will run for Florida Senate seat.

From Politico

My colleague Manu Raju reports that National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman John Cornyn expects that Gov. Charlie Crist will jump into the Florida Senate race, which would land the GOP its most high-profile recruit to date.

"All the signals I've been getting is that he probably will , but I don't want to make any announcements for him because he's the one who will ultimately decide whether to pull the trigger or not,” Cornyn said.

But Cornyn added he will not intervene in a contested primary, where Crist would be facing former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio. Rubio, a conservative Republican, announced his candidacy yesterday and has been critical of Crist for supporting President Obama's stimulus proposal.

“"I don't think it's the proper role of the NRSC or folks in Washington to try to tell Floridians who their nominee should be, so I think that will have to work its way out," Cornyn said.

A Republican operative close to Crist said he expects the governor to announce his future political plans “very soon,” perhaps as early as Monday. Crist has said he will decide after the state legislature wraps up its session, which ends on Friday.

edit: to add "thinks" in title

1. Why is the title "Crist will" when he said "he probably will?"
That is a big difference.

3. The "Political Wire" ran this headline "Cornyn Thinks Crist Will Run for Senate"
http://politicalwire.com/aggregator/

Cronyn cannot announce for Crist, obviously, but the wording seems to indicate that a decision has been made and that this is not a trial balloon.

Since Cronyn is Chairman of the NRSC he probably wouldn't make a statement without knowing the outcome.

The article also quotes an "operative close to Crist" saying that we should expect Crist to make an announcement on Monday.

4. lol well I took it out of the title but the first person to reply objected so
I put it back in for accuracy sake, even though it makes it more ironic.
