2. I would be suspicious of the nominee if the Republicans DIDN'T vow to fight.
I would wonder why they liked the pick so much.

OTOH, let's remember that the Repubicans have lost every battle with Obama so far and lost badly. I no longer care what drivel comes out of their mouths anymore. They are toothless tigers, IMO...

3. They're going to fight Daffy Duck so let's give them someone who actually cares about we the people.
Happy karma, thugs.

4. I can guarantee this
whoever is even floated as a possible nominee is going to face incredible scrutiny by wingnut groups out there determined to fight. The last time we had a progressive nominee for the Court was 1994, and the Internet was in its infancy then.

It's gonna get dirty this time around.

5. Might as well nominate someone the President really likes
Because no matter who he nominates the person is going to be painted as William Ayers/Bin-Laden/Baby Killer/Extreme proponent of the "gay agenda"/American-Hating/Globalist/Socialist/Fascist/Nazi/Communist/Affirmative Action picked/God Hating

LIBERAL
