I want Liberal radio to succeed.

To me personally, it all comes down to liberal radio for survival. The only reason any animosity still exists is that the right still have th mouth piece. It's time to take that mouth piece back. It's time to take liberal radio to the streets. By burning CDs and taking portable CD players to any local populated area and play and just let the truth speak for itself, with a sign also directing folks to the best pod-casts like at whiterosesociety.org . The truth must get out there in a massive way, it's the only hurdle left to cross. Once larger and larger amounts understand how they've been controlled by medai you can't hold back progress, even for a second. Especially promote Mike Malloy.com (editing out swears where needed). He's a strong voice out there. Once more people know what's really what, the chances of survival are very high. Lots of work to do, lots of hearts and minds to change. Let's not slow down the momentum for a second the truth is undeniable once any person hears it.

1. I root for liberal tv shows as well

Ed Shultz is our only real hope. Olbermann and Maddow seem to care what other say about them. Its like they bash Obama sometimes just to show the right they will do it. Ed doesn't care, he wants to destroy the right and defends the President all the way. I think the Pres admires him for that, I notice he got a front row seat at the PC. We need Ed to succeed. I wish they would put him on later in the day, that would probably improve his ratings a little.

2. Unfortunately, that's the difference between

the Republicans and Democrats. We are willing to hold our representatives to high standards, while the freepers will sink to whatever level their fuhrers are at. While I respect and admire president Obama, I don't look to him for leadership; and I sure as hell don't define my opinion of what is right and wrong by what he does. Compare that to the outlook of the right wingers, who have to play a game of moral Twister to contort their opinions to defend Bush while bashing similar actions taken by Clinton and Obama. We hold true, while they lie. Hopefully those in between can tell the difference.

3. It's All About Access & Money

Sadly, Progressive Radio's history of finding and holding sponsors is not very good. Most large corporations avoid advertising on any controversial formats...right or left, thus these networks need to find other ways of paying the bills. A large corporate like a Clear Channel can supplement their hate radio stations with the revenues of their Conteporary hit or Urban or Sports station. But that was in good times, these are anything but.

Thanks to the abuses of the large corporates, local radio is vanishing. Fewer voices will have access to the airwaves. Those few stations that are independently owned face major troubles...they get what leftovers from the big boys and there are few pickings. This isn't as much control as it is both marketplace and the changing audience.

Progressive radio has done a horrible job in promoting itself. Networks like AAR and NovaM were barely able to break even yet promote or build up the infrastructure to add more. If anything, they proved how limited Progressive talk (and all talk radio) has become.

If you want to spread the word...or help it expand, it's helping find some kind of institutional support...some kind of donation system, similar to public radio, that will guarantee the format is heard far and wide and not attached to ratings...or to find some rich sugar daddies with deep pockets.

Radio doesn't change hearts and minds...one on one talking does. Radio does help keep the light on once it's lit.

5. Everyone can support by just listening and periodically calling into these shows,

to let management know you're listening and you support liberal radio.

I'm the producer of a small, independent, and progressive radio talk show in the New York metropolitan region. Our show is up against two news stations, Imus, two other talk shows on AM and two more on FM, and we've been critiqued as "too serious" for the morning to boot. Our guests have been congressional representatives and even mayors, authors, representatives of Media Matters, even celebrities. We have a loyal audience. After almost 1-1/2 years of debuting, we're finally getting some callers which absolutely thrills me.

7. The PTB don't want it to survive

if they did, Malloy and Hartmann and Steph and Ed and TYT would be on 600 stations each across the country every day, starting next week. Schultz would outdraw Manatee and Hartmann would overtake Limpballs within 2 months.

The wingers that own the country need fear and hatred to keep their power. Hate Radio is the main tool for that job. They will see to it that liberals don't get a toehold.

8. radio is dying

It's primary audience is really old...and it's an ancient, boring medium.

Work for liberal internet radio. That's where any future lies. And really, even that is just a throwback platform.
