Condoleezza Rice approved 'torture' techniques

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/5208701/Condoleezza-Rice-approved-torture-techniques.html

She verbally agreed to allow the methods to be used on Abu Zubaydah, an al-Qaeda suspect, in July 2002, a Senate report has revealed.

Miss Rice's role was outlined in a narrative released by the Senate Intelligence Committee as the controversy over alleged torture by the CIA continued to rage.

The information indicates that the programme was approved at the highest levels of the Bush administration.

The new timeline suggests Miss Rice played a more significant role than she acknowledged in written testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee submitted in the autumn.

1. Just when I thought my opinion of her had sunk as low as possible,
she tops even that.

3. I'll take bets that she'll be the scapegoat...the only one that will be tried......
the fall gal, the patsy, the sacrifacial vampire bat.

4. I think you'd lose that bet
Because she was only the mouthpiece delivering the message. Quite literally that's what the job of the Secretary of State is. That and doing the high level negotiations and first tier diplomatic talks. But that doesn't make her innocent by any means. I just don't think anyone can go after her without going after her boss. She doesn't set policy.

5. I hope you are correct. The back room, however, works in mysterious ways...

6. The GOP would never throw her under the bus either
I don't think she would take one for the team either. I've always believed that she's one of the most vain women on the planet. Maybe not quite as vain as Imelda Marcos, but up there with other dragon ladies. Every word she uttered to other countries was a thinly veiled threat saying, 'do it our way, or else...'
