Hagan on NAFTA
“While I understand the President’s desire to maintain a good relationship with our North American trading partners, I am disappointed US Trade Representative Ron Kirk has said it is not necessary to renegotiate the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA),” said Hagan. “This country’s current trade policy is not working. The manufacturing economy in North Carolina has suffered and far too many North Carolinians have lost their jobs. It is only right we require our trading partners to enforce the labor and environmental standards that we ask of our manufacturing industry.”

5. Your gallows humor may be accurate since we peasants and serfs are genetically tailored to survive.

9. Your not supposed to notice the HUGE giveaway to the banking crooks.
You're supposed to focus on the fact that they didn't have their water glasses refilled when they visited the Whitehouse.

Forget the marketing, image campaign. I'd like to see some substance.

6. We could likely crush Mexico in a tariff war, but...
Given how de-stabilized Mexico is becoming, the situation will only speed up if there if those textile jobs in Mexico are lost if we renegotiate NAFTA. I think the first thing we need to do is stop fighting the war on drugs and stop subsidizing our corn. Then we can talk about re-negotiating NAFTA and putting tariffs on our manufacturing.

7. Not a chance, they mess with NAFTA when there is a Global Economic crisis
Thats just reality. This is simply one of the things you can't do right now. Also everything doesn't have to be done in his first yr in office

8. America has an economic crisis because of unfair trade agreements.
Corporations continue to move jobs overseas. Government spending is NOT a long term fix and does not address the substance of the issue.

Our economic crisis makes it even MORE imperative to address unfair trade agreements.
