I love both species, but obviously there is some serious division here along, unbelievably, political lines. :wow:

4. Bull. Love them both. They both love me.
Horrible Monsters, each and every one of them in my family. Tweat killers, each and every one of them. Three dogs, three cats. All old. They are the best, except for the companions now gone, who were also the best.

I have enough love for all of them. They each have enough love for me.

And that settles it.

Especially if they eat ants.

12. Nope he's a bearded dragon.
They eat insects and vegetables. I've never fed him ants, but he loves mill worms.

They start off about this big,

and end up as big as my previous dragon who passed away a few months ago from old age at 12.

They make great pets, but require more care than a dog or cat. Proper lighting and vitamins and minerals are a must.

15. Sweethearts. Is 12 years typical for a bearded dragon? (sorry for your loss)
Nice pics and habitats. I knew some people with a (relatively) free range iguana, he pretty much lived in the house and was actually potty-trained to the bathroom. He would wait at the window for the kid to get home from school, sleep with him at night. Amazing.

19. Yeah that's about the average life span.
Thanks for the condolences. I miss Draco, but he lived a good life and passed in his sleep so it wasn't a bad way to go. Yoshie has a good life ahead of him of me waiting on him hand and foot. My cousin has an Iguana, from what I understand they are one of the hardiest lizards and make good pets as well. They really are amazing animals and much smarter than people give them credit for.

23. My only complaint about cat owners is that many of them allow
their cats to prowl the neighborhood day and night stalking the birds that are already declining in numbers.

for the sake of the birds and the cats. The average age of an outdoor cat is about 2 years. For indoor cats it is more like 15 years and many live to be 16, 17 up to 20 years old.

My cats co-exist perfectly with the birds through the glass of our sun room. We have many beautiful songbirds in our yard that we cats and humans all enjoy. My cats are way too afraid too go outside for them to be of any threat. They are just as content to run from window to window to inquisitively watch the birds work and fly.

33. I allow my cat to stalk the "neighborhood."
She's brought a few sparrows in over the years, but not many. She is great at mice, packrats, and rabbits, though.

I'd have more cats, but it's not safe for them here. The one I've got is extremely cautious. Owls inside the fence line and coyotes outside the fence line are too deadly for most cats.

My cat doesn't stray beyond our 6 acres, and is in with me at night when the owls are hunting.

My mother is a huge animal lover and to this day you can't go to her house without tripping over some critter. Animals are wonderful and give us unconditional love. I can't understand anyone who tries to hurt them.

29. I love cats and like dogs for the most part ... But, my issue is
not so much the dogs themselves, but the blatant anti-cat bias in popular culture. I'm so frickin' sick of Disney/Pixar type movies making cats into the bad guys (Stewart Little, Cats vs. Dogs, etc. etc., the scene in Bolt where the kitty gets the frying pan thrown at her merely for being a cat). Plus, I hate that "Dogs Rule" Purina commercial -- it reminds me of the jingoistic "USA #1! type attitude. Also, if I see another dog movie come out I'm going to scream. There are brazillions -- the Air Bud ones, Beethoven, Marley, Hotel for Dogs, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, etc. etc. We need more than "Aristocats!" That's been, like, what, 40+ years?

30. You know what the difference is b/t a dog and a cat?
You feed and water a dog; he thinks you're god.

You feed and water a cat; he thinks HE'S god.

31. I am cat person, have 2 indoor but I don't hate dogs
I just love them too much to own them. We travel and its easier to have someone take care of a cat. I feel like a dog needs and deserves a lot of attention and if you can't give it to them you shouldn't have one.

Not that i don't spoil my kitty babies, they are persian and ragdoll both with long hair so i have to brush them. My ragdoll loves to play and i think we bought him every toy made...he follows us all over the house.

My cats are both very independent like me. Dogs are more needy.

32. I love my cat and dog, they love me,
and they love each other.

At least, the dog loves the cat when she's not jealous of her lap privileges, and the cat tolerates, and rules, the dog.

36. I think it's silly too.
I grew up with dogs. Big dogs. I love 'em. But I probably relate more on an emotional level to cats - plus also I'm a city dweller with a weird schedule and a small apartment, so it's definitely better for me to have a cat.

Animals are people too. They're all individuals.

(Today on the phone, my dad said "I think my next dog will be a cat!" But he was just feeling bitter because his 10-month-old, 100-lb. Bull Mastiff hasn't learned how to NOT knock him down when she sees a rabbit yet.)
