I was wrong
During the primaries, I thought that Hilary Clinton would have made the better president. I preferred her education and health policies. However, I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am with Barrack Obama. He prefers the policy of making friends with the "enemy" rather than the usual saber rattling. His gesture with Iran left me speechless, and then he backed it up with his talks with Cuba. I believe at the Americas Summit he even exchanged pleasantries with Chavez.

I have followed American politics since Kennedy was elected in 1960 and I have never been so impressed with a president as much as I have been with Obama. On my wish list, I'd like to see him show sympathy for the plight of the Palestinians. Clinton was an excellent selection for his Secretary of State. If Jimmy Carter wasn't so old, I would have preferred him in that role.

WHAT A GUY

5. Totally agree on that point
It's SO great to have an American president who doesn't make you cringe when he goes on a foreign tour.

And we totally made sure he knew it when he came to Ottawa.

presumably when he was a kid.

8. If he ever visits Australia again
I'll make sure that I'm there to cheer for him. If Bush ever ventures this far south again, I'll make sure that I have a good collection of shoes to throw.

I'm in South Australia but wherever he is, I'll be there! I've even told my husband that even if he shows up in the Northern Territory in February in 50 degree heat, we are STILL going!! :)

9. A giant among men ....
.... and we're all lucky to be alive to witness it.

Glad to see you're beginning to see what I've known and loved about him for so long. Makes me proud.

On a side note? Are you from Australia? I watched an Aussie reality show last year ... way last spring when the primaries were still going on .... and a couple of the contestants were talking about how they hoped we (the US) elected Barack Obama and how we'd be foolish to do otherwise.

Feels good to be an American again.

10. Yes, I am an Australian
and I'm proud to have been part of the system that ousted the Howard government back in 2007. Many Aussies are very aware of what goes on in American politics. Prior to the November elections, a poll was taken, and if the election was held here, Obama would have won with about 3/4 of the vote.

meeting my expectations, and even exceeding them. And I'm also very, very happy that Hillary is doing such a fantastic job as SoS. We have an awsome team.

17. All this foreign stuff....
....is good for empire, but what we Americans need is more focus on the motherland. Screw empire, screw the foreigners, Obama has been overseas way too much recently. But that is good for empire, eh?

27. Obama has a lot of cleaning up to do
Bush just about destroyed America's image abroad. eg "You're either with us or against us". Obama is doing a wonderful job restoring your image back to a positive one.

18. I have to admit
Hillary Clinton as a Secretary of State was a master stroke, one of his curve
balls that he pitches every now and then.

This is Obama 2.0, wait till you see 2.5 and 3.0

its gonna be a long years in the wilderness for some Group of People, no names please.

21. I'm impressed with Pres. Obama too. I still take up for Hillary though
when she is bashed here by the usual offenders.

He's getting so much done so quickly... I've never seen anything like it. I can't wait to see what the future holds. Universal Healthcare coverage for ALL is near the top of my wishes. I think he'll get it done. I also believe that the Republicans would have stonewalled Hillary more effectively than they have Barack.

I'm very proud of the job he is doing.

23. Stonewalled isn't the word for what they would have done to Hillary
The battles they fought against Bill would have been the beginning. They would have taken her apart bit by bit. Whatever Chelsea has been up to since the WH would have been fair game for them.

I think the thing about Obama is Chicago politics are a whole different world for Republicans. People make jokes about unions in the sense that is where all the tough Democrats are. Blago is someone Republicans joke about, but will Republicans intimidate a politician like Obama who has weathered a sea of Blagoes from his community organizing days until his days in the Illinois state house.

If there was dirt on Obama and someone was willing to detail it, Republicans would have gotten it a long time ago. Chicago has long been a Democratic town whereas Clinton had to fight through Arkansas Republicans who made all kinds of spurious charges against him and that northern wife of his. *sarcasm*

28. We have had socialized health since the early 70's
When the conservative government was elected in 1975, they destroyed it. It was brought in again in 1983 by the Labor Hawke government and we have had it ever since. It works very well. If you fall ill, the last thing you need to worry about is how much it will cost.

My heart goes out to those poor unfortunate people who have lost their jobs. As a consequence they have lost their health insurance. Two situations that would play a major part in becoming ill. Then they have the situation on how they would pay their medical bills. It makes me shudder.

25. I agree. I was afraid Obama was too far to the left to get anything done.
Turns out he is more like Bill Clinton, definitely more centrist than Hillary, so he's going to get more accomplished!
