I just sent a message to my President

telling him how disappointed I am that CIA torturers will not be prosecuted.

I haven't written to the President, since the last time we had a real President, over 8 years ago.

Why am I posting this?

To put it simply, we now have a real President in the White House.

If you're really upset about the way he is handling things, write to him and let him know.

All the growsing on DU is not worth a bucket of spit, unless the message gets through to OUR President.

1. I have been doing this consistently.....

Writing to the President. I write to him about issues in where I liked his actions, and issues in where I didn't. I try not to always be demanding and ordering.

Anyways, I feel like he is listening somehow.

Dear Mr. President,

I am writing to request a reconsideration of your stance on torture and the prosecution of those responsible for soiling our countries good name.

I feel to let anyone go who has perpetrated such acts against humanity will only encourage more aggressive and worse tactics in the future. We must let the American people know that government is held to the same standards and laws that each of it's citizens is.

I believe that you are a better human being then the utterly disappointing announcement you have made. While some of the people held by our country are perhaps the worst people in the world. We only confirm their actions by taking actions we believe they would take.

I can only picture in our fight for freedom in our own country that things like your announcement were some of the issues we were fighting so hard against. A set of laws which cared more for which clique a person belong to then what crime was committed.

It is hard to put into words how deeply I am sadden to see my country go down this direction. I understand the gravity of the situation you find yourself in and appreciate greatly your accomplishments. But in this case I weep.
