2009 Teabagging Championships - a photo essay

2009 Teabagging Championships

All across America Wednesday, viewers of a certain news channel named after an animal gathered to express their fervent belief that if you are angry about something, the best way to express that anger is to engage in group teabagging. If you're outraged, if you're mad as hell and you aren't going to take it anymore, if you're, well, how did Tina put it? "This teabagging movement is still trying to win a presidential election that someone else has already won!" Yeah, that's it. If you're all of those things, teabagging is definitely for you.

All of these rallies were highly spontaneous events that sprung from the grass-roots, otherwise known as "two well-financed political activist groups and one cable news channel that is named after an animal." The news channel denied involvement despite having aired advertisements disguised as news stories, like this:

8. would NOT surprise me if they had standby handmade signs...
"Excuse me sir, thank you for coming to our rally, but your sign is so idiotic and misspelled that we'd hate to have that appear on DU and spoil our credibility even further. Let me trade you for this nice "Taxed Enough Already" sign, OK sir? You're a great American."
