Wow; Gingrich & Will finding a way to criticize the president over the dog
George Will: "A grand liberal gesture, saying he was going the pound and then using a breeder"

Gingrich: "I hope the girls like the dog but this whole thing is stupid and unimportant"

There is no limits to the stupidity of these people.

I can kind of get someone saying the dog story is trivial (but yes, I am interested in the dog personally, haha), but Newt doesn't get to say that with the bullshit that he obsessed over in the Clinton years. Yeah, Will and Newt seemed very bitter. And Will had to piss on the Obamas making a donation to the humane society. Plus, they only mentioned the dog for a split second. The guest didn't show up today so it was an extra long panel, I'm sure we can spare five seconds Newt. And they didn't mention that it was a regifted dog (yes, trivial, but if Will is going to criticize about this "broken promise" BS).

President Obama said they were considering getting a rescue dog, if it worked out. And anyway, who cares what these lying, conservative idiots think?

4. Meh... I don't like Newt playing this new "common sense", grounded, and reasonable persona
Saying the dog is not a big story (instead of finding an angle to make some hay or at least try to) and even in principal and in the form of stupid tax cuts, calling for a second stimulus is clearly laying groundwork. He's looking for another "reinvent" and is getting ahead of the herd from a thinking and image projection standpoint.

8. Homelanders whining again about Americans & dogs
Edited on Sun Apr-12-09 11:50 AM by SpiralHawk
it is just so pathetic to watch Homelanders whine in their ongoing Crusade to cause America to FAIL -- the way they failed for 8 miserable years. They just don't get that trying to drag America down to their level of incompetence and corruption is, how shall I put it, STUPID and EVIL.

14. it most certainly was *not* a rescue dog
The original purchasers returned it to the breeder. It's not uncommon for more ethical breeders to include return clauses in the purchase contract, which was the situation here. Ted Kennedy arranged the re-sale/re-homing.

Bo was no danger of landing in a shelter or pound, or of being gassed to death, or sold cheap to a lab, or sold cheaper to a dog fighting ring as training bait.

19. You don't understand what a rescue dog is
A rescue dog doesn't have to be in a near death situation. There are organizations that hold dogs until/if they can find them a home. Those dogs aren't going to die. They're still considered rescue dogs. Yes, this was from the original breeder, but the dog didn't have a permanent home.

Edited on Sun Apr-12-09 01:21 PM by rocktivity
I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with Will.

As for Gingrich, he's just being his usual grouchy, mean-spirited self (you can't spell "Gringrich" without "G-r-i-n-c-h"). If he'd actually put the blame where it was due--said something like, "It was stupid of THE MEDIA to make a big deal out of the puppy because it's unimportant and nobody cares," then I'd have to agree with him as well!

21. Like overly tired crabby children, nothing Pres. Obama does or
says or doesn't say or do will make them happy.

We The People spanked them and sent them to their rooms, where they're now sulking and tossing temper tantrums.

And every day they're losing more voters. So they toss more tantrums.

And lose more voters. And toss more tantrums...

Like overly tired crappy little kids, they can't work out the obvious and adjust their behaviour.
