"Is Obama spending too much time overseas? Does it make him look out of touch?"
That was asked this morning on MSNBC. I don't remember who asked but the point is they had the nerve to even ASK that question. Two weeks ago the question was asked, "Is he spending too much time being interviewed/having town halls/taking questions? Does he risk looking over-exposed?" HE CAN'T WIN no matter WHAT he does! :eyes:

1. It's funny how they dust off old bullshit that didn't work then, and won't work now.

4. It seems like whatever he does, they question it. His trip has been SO successful in
changing the way we're seen overseas which, of course, can only help America, yet the "liberal" media has to try their hardest to look for ANY negative angle. They sound ridiculous.

10. And trust me on this Bloo, if he had not stopped in Iraq today
it would have been a 24/7 howl from the radio hellhounds about him ignoring the troops, being so close and all.

11. I agree...
they DON'T stop to think ANYTHING through-unless it's to try to hurt him. This morning I called MSNBC to ask if they're going to air the town hall he held today in Turkey and they transferred me 3 times only to get the answer, "I don't know. You'll just have to tune in." I told them everytime I "tune in" they "dip in" to an event if they show it at all and they call themselves "The Place for Politics" which doesn't seem to be a true reflection of their programming and they just repeated I'll have to tune in-they may cover it. :eyes:

6. I love when the MSM wonders aloud if a story has legs.
I figure that's the point where they are deciding whether or not to grind it into the ground. They are a self-perpetuating bullshit dispenser.

12. Exactly. A story WILL have legs if they keep talking about it...
I remember them asking that about every negative thing that came up about Obama. He managed to win despite them.

16. Given the damage Dingaling* caused, President Obama has a LOT of work to do.
The fact he was elected in and not McMoose is nothing less than a godsend either. I think people have figured it out.

23. "What was Britney thinking?!"
Edited on Tue Apr-07-09 02:48 PM by TexasObserver
SNL's cartoon, Real Audio/TV Funhouse, did a funny spoof about these vacuous entertainment "news" shows, with that coke sniffing pervert (whose name escapes me) babbling incoherently. As real news took place all around him, he'd mumble "What was Britney thinking?!"

Of course, it was real audio, actually taken from the entertainment news show.

Well, the morning gab fest at MSNBC is one step removed from that.

24. The Obamas have a fine line to walk what with the recession and war. They both have
great senses of humour but have to hold back I would imagine on that and fancy dress balls because the rest of the country is going through economic hell. I think they are doing great balancing it all. But it is tricky.

28. Actually, this is a pefect time for the "fancy White House parties"
People know how embarrassed they were when *² "entertained" foreign leaders at the pig farm, serving franks & beans.

It's way past time for protocol & dignity to return to the US.

We need a steady stream of dignitaries showing up at the white house and for important meetings..

He cannot just hole up at Camp David like *² did. He needs to stay close to DC for a while, so let the rest of the world show up here. and let our new president show the rest of the world that we know how to treat visitors ..

29. I doubt now is the time for partying. Dignitaries can still show up and have a fancy
dinner. It just doesn't have to be so big it attracts the press. And dinner for 20 would be fine. That shows respect for foreigners. And it is more intimate.

My point is also that this line the Obamas have to walk during the recession is a good one. Once the economy improves they can open up and be themselves and be the funny, funny people they are and the country will fall in love with them all over again.

For now they must be serious more than funny. People are in alot of pain. It is too bad the Obamas have to deal with this since they didn't start the recession but that is the way it is.

30. Hardly
He scored big both in Europe and in Turkey. Even the local leaders here (I'm stationed
in Germany) were perplexed at how much more popular he was than they were, themselves.
He may not have accomplished anywhere near what he hoped, but I think he came here with
realistic expectations, and really came for a get-acquainted session, and to make his
mark with the international community of leaders. His charismatic personality won over
many of them, and blew away the public wherever he went. Don't think the local leaders
didn't catch this.
