Oh no, wait til the Pope hears who Michelle is dining with tonight
Edited on Wed Apr-01-09 12:25 PM by Jackeens
This evening, while the leaders of the G-20 nations have a working dinner, Michelle Obama will attend a dinner and sit next to Harry Potter author JK Rowling.....(former British athlete Kelly Holmes, an Olympic gold medal winner, will be on the other side)

Pope Benedict XVI has condemned the Harry Potter books as "subtle seductions," capable of corrupting young Christians....

1. I love JK Rowling and her books and happen to be a Christian. WTF is wrong with some people?
Edited on Wed Apr-01-09 11:37 AM by Jennicut
Besides, practicing "magic" or "witchcraft" per the Wiccan religion just means using things from the earth to create spells and chants. Its not Satanic at all. I have a friend who is a Wiccan.
Plus Harry Potter is fiction and good fic at that.
And why does anyone continue to listen to the Pope?

2. The reason a certain percentage of Christians are stark raving insane is...
the same as the reason that a certain percentage of Muslims are stark raving insane. And that reason is simply that a certain percentage of HUMANS are stark raving insane, regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof.

14. Not to mention that the 'magic' in the Potter books is not based on
anything pagan or Wiccan - it's pure fantasy.

And, in just about every book, and movie, the characters celebrate Christmas, which is, last I heard, a Christian holiday.

4. Do you think
that Michelle will get autographs for the girls? I seem to remember that Papa Obama read the books aloud to Malia and Sasha.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix right now. I think it would be fascinating to dine with JK Rowling.
