Barack Obama arrived in Downing Street this morning for talks with Gordon Brown as both the UK and the US faced demands from other world leaders calling for significant progress on financial regulation at tomorrow's G20 summit.

The president, who was accompanied by his wife Michelle, was driven up to the door of No 10 shortly after 8am, where he was greeted by Brown and his wife, Sarah.

Unusually, Obama was cheered by Downing Street staff as he went inside for breakfast and talks with the prime minister. The two leaders will later hold a news conference at around 10am.....

3. Here's a story of Michelle's visit to a cancer center this morning... love the J Crew outfit!
http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world/michelle-obama-visits-cancer-care-center-20090401-9jsd.html

US first lady Michelle Obama wished a cancer care centre a happy first birthday on Wednesday during her first full day in London before the G20 summit.
She visited the centre with Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and blew out a single candle on a chocolate-frosted sponge cake, and then joined others for tea.
"This is pretty amazing," Mrs Obama said of the Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre, which Mrs Brown opened last year.

10. I saw the video of that + the follow up
After the handshake, Brown told the guard something, the guard stretched his hand, but Borwn moved on without shaking it. Cringe moment.

21. What do they (first ladies) talk about?
You always see the picture of the first ladies sitting in chairs, with a bouquet of flowers between them. And they're talking like two neighbors catching up. Do they share state secrets? talk about their husbands?

I've just always wondered what two people who have never met before talk about while the eyes of the world are upon them.
