Let me teach you how it works... a local station brings on Limbaugh. They sell ad time on the Limbaugh show. It will be LOCAL ad time... for the local Deli or Ford dealer or the mattress shop. Ad time during the show is big $$$.

To over-simplify... Local radio station pays Limbaugh $1000 to run a show 1 day, Local Radio Station accepts $5000 in advertising to run during the show 1 day.

Limbaugh is wealthy because he draws an audience of 25 million assholes. Those assholes buy shit and the advertisers and local radio station make $$. Capitalism. At least it's better than the crap on Wall Street... the Ponzi scheme where they take something with NO VALUE and make it sell for $300/share.

And he actually makes them MORE money when there are people of his own political bent who are dissatisfied with the government. He became HUGE during the Clinton years, and his popularity waned a bit under Bush. Now that Obama is in power, he's got an entire new boogeyman to tackle.

Since the Democrats own both houses of Congress as well, he can simply disapprove of everything the government does, and his audience will lap it up. I would not be entirely shocked if, before the end of Obama's first term, that his audience grows to 30 million or so. Regardless of what Obama does, they're going to be unhappy because they don't perceive themselves to be represented by someone who has their best interests in mind.
