Maxine Waters covering her butt by going on the offense against Obama
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 12:28 PM by jenmito
She was apparently on Mika and Joe's radio show where she said Obama has to clarify what took place between the treasury & Chris Dodd. She said he has some explaining to do! "Maybe the president is not up to speed but this has to be clarified." :wtf: Isn't she under some sort of investigation re: her husband's finances?

I hate starting this "concern" thread, but anyone who knows my posts knows I am NOT a "concern troll."

...what went on between Treasury and Sen. Dodd.

SOMEBODY needs to clarify, that's for sure ~ and I still want to know who stripped Snowe-Wyden.

7. I don't exactly disagree with what she said. I think it should be clarified.
But the fact that she had to go on Joe and Mika's show of all places (and that some have said she has her own explaining to do) kind of stings me. Couldn't she at least go on Rachel (maybe she has, and I missed it). It reminds me of Even Bayh gloating to Joe about his new "coalition".

18. what I don't understand is why is this ammendment
crap only being brought up now? If Snowe-Wyden were so outraged about it being taken out, why did they wait till now to bring it up? It all seems really fishy. I think these Dems are feeding into the game the repugs are playing. They don't care how they make the president look.

21. Democrats always eat their own
They never fail to do this. As I've said before, it is other democrats not repugs that are going to be the ones that cause the most problems for the administration. Democrats have been out in the cold for 8 years. We finally regain the Whitehouse with a mandate. Instead of acting like a team and watching each other backs to bring our economy back they fight and bicker among themselves for the cameras and stab the president in the back. I knew this would happen just a bit surprised it has happened so soon. Democrats bad mouthing the presidents budget(which would represent the most progressive agenda pursued in over 30 years, Now we have them not repugs trying to bring down the Whitehouse over this AIG business. It makes me sick.

23. Dodd has taken a beating
for exactly what? He was advised by Paulson's Treasury Department that restrictions on bonuses may not be legal and that they also would prevent companies from participating, so the media's reporting on this isn't spot on (what the hell else is new!)

This woman is under investigation all of the time. She needs friends in high places and she sells out her president. U would've had to waterboard repubs to sell out Bush is first 4yrs. It was hard to get them to criticize him at all until he got out of office.

35. This is bogus.
All of what time Todd?

She is one Congress woman that stands UP and speaks out on behalf of her constituency in LA.

Asking tough questions is Congress' responsibility. If something was slid into a bill or taken out of a bill at the last minute after both House and Senate version had been passed, the issue is what interests were involved in adding/removing that provision?

Democrats, all elected Democrats, have to answer to their constituencies eventually. If Republicans have decided to pick individual Democrats apart because the direct attack on the president isn't working, then the rest of us have to have enough sense to ask whether there is smoke with the fire or there is something to the fire.

32. What am I missing with Waters hearing the disconnect between
Dodd originally putting the no executive bonus awards as long as companies take bailouts AND Dodd taking away the amendment later suggesting Treasury told him his amendment would fail if he kept in that provision?

How is Waters falling for the okey doke?

How is Waters shifting focus from the media questioning her voting record and her husband's financial interests?

What is the web that holds these two or more things together?

to put Norah into place about her comments regarding the reality of every member of congress reading every page of legislature. I thought it was good, but she must have received a call to walk her earlier comments back a bit.

She made sure to stand behind Obama in that lil segment. She also managed to sound like an idiot by admitting nobody read the stimulus package. I don't see why Obama's people just don't say the provision is unconstitutional and they thought individual companies would have sense not to give out bonuses at this time. Now thats a descent lie right?
