Bayh Has Been Bought Off
Backdoor politics are playing out yet again in the Democratic Party. We should have known that the 60-vote, filibuster-proof majority was too good to be true for Dems. These turncoats are basically saying their vote is up for sale now and that they won't gurantee a YAY whenever Obama tries to pass something. I can already see they're going to cause a problem with regards to healthcare reform. Dems love to act like this issue is our baby, when in truth many moderate Dems ("centrists") probably don't even support universal healthcare.

They could also be trying to distance themselves from Obama who seems lost amid this AIG scandal. If things start to go south, they don't want to be pulled down with it all. I admit, I don't totally like how Obama is handling this thing so far. It's not so much Obama as much as it is the advice he's being given from his economic team. Americans are PISSED! And they're not getting that.

5. He may be thinking about his own political hide as well.
He's up in 2010.

Indiana is conservative. I thought that it was a miracle that it went Blue this year, and I did phone banking into Indiana for Obama. It isn't New York or California or Illinois.

Bayh knows his state well, and I assume that he'd like to return to the Senate. He may be the best that we can do in Indiana.

I'm reserving judgment on this for the time being.
