I'm calling for the impeachment of Barack Obama.
He has done nothing to bring the bush criminals to justice. Indeed, he seems set on ignoring them in hopes we will go away.

He is an accomplice after-the-fact to war crimes and crimes against humanity and should be driven from office in shame and held accountable for the crimes he has abetted.

Or maybe not.

4. Well .... no.
I'm less interested in prosecuting Fool and the Gang than undoing the damage they wreaked.

I'll give you this: he's a disappointment on Iraq so far.... the pledge to withdraw having been poorly crafted and utterly ambiguous. He's in danger of having Bush's War morph into Obama's War as Johnson's War became Nixon's War.

. . . and behind the scenes with the Justice Department, which will first have to get rid of all the Bush era people.

It isn't a fight Obama overtly wants to make yet. He needs more political strength, which will grow, and more distance from the Bush administration. Impeach him. For what? It would be far sillier than impeaching Clinton was.

71. I don't see Obama's popularity or power getting worse

It can only get better. He's too much of a JFK/FDR-type figure. He might be shot, but he's not going to tank at the polls, even though it's certain Republican/Conservatives will despise him as they did FDR.

Obama is working right now to put out all the fires Bush started, and it's enough work. If he pushes for the prosecution of Bush right now, Republicans might just boycott Congress, which will deny a quorum; they could probably whip up mass protests in the Red States.

Simple division of labor would say Obama should let Congress start the investigations, while the AG looks into it quietly, and Bush sympathizers within Justice who might block the investigation are purged or transfered far away from it.

Meanwhile, by the next election, Repubs will realize that Bush is still an extreme liability for them, and he will be, and they'll be ready to throw him under a bus.

This is my scenario. A lot to presume? You see, we have a competent professional president now, and we can be confident that he's goint to do it right.

Edited on Wed Mar-11-09 09:06 PM by caseymoz
IMHO, though, the Dems have one weapon over the MSM that terrifies it: the Fairness Doctrine. Not only the Fairness Doctrine. The Republicans can't stop it either. Just watch how often a "trial balloon" about it appears and when. The Dems really don't want to have to do it (not yet, anyway, it will make them look bad), but they are not above reminding MSM about it now and then.

Meanwhile, Obama will probably have to recreate himself as a left-wing populist anyway. William Grieder has said this and I agree. Finally, unlike anyone else we've had since Kennedy, the guy is fully capable of getting on TV and delivering his message. And physically he's gorgeous. Did you see how many fluff magazines carried him on their cover?

He has a viral quality all his own. As Dems, we couldn't have done better for a politician. Obama strongly concerns me about a few policies, but I think he's in to stay. Short of a war with China, I can't think of anything that might bring him down.

75. That would be such a relief, wouldn't it?
Then Congress can go ahead and have their commission, and perhaps a Special Prosecutor will be appointed, and some low-hanging fruit can go to jail. But most importantly..Obama will be outta there! I can feel your relief.

80. plop plop fizz fizz...
Obama seems more than willing to defer to a congressional "truth" commission (in which, of course, "truth" is a euphemism for prevaricating and covering up).

86. I didn't say that. I don't see any effort on anyone's part to do anything meaningful at all.
The only talk has been half-assed congressional talk of a truth commission, which gives Obama cover on the issue ("It's up to Congress to 'investigate.'")

87. well..duh...
it is! I wonder how many people are contacting their representatives demanding investigation? I bet not nearly as many as those who think Obama should be impeached.

84. Well he's got 8 years there's no time limitation to prosecution. It wouldn't personally be in his >
hands either.
