6. I've been encouraging people to do that. They try to tell me

that there is no successful therapy that has come from privately funded research. I tell them that the Bush Admin's FDA blocked every bit of ESCR therapies from clinical trials. That shuts them up.

8. What's really funny

Is that a lot of right-wingers aren't against it -- it's only the nutcase religious wing of the party.

Our local hospital had a lecture on stem cell research. This is right in the middle of a huge Republican stronghold -- for six months out of the year, the city where the hospital is located is the richest zip code in the country. The auditorium was packed with people -- mostly over 40, well into their 70s. There wasn't one person in that room (the Walter Annenberg Auditorium at the Eisenhower Medical Center) who was opposed to stem cell research -- in fact all were soundly in favor and were upset it wasn't progressing faster.

It's merely the rabble rousers who are waging the war against it.
