Rachel Maddow's new set and feeling....
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 09:55 PM by vaberella
I bloody love it. The backdrop is more like a late-night comedy show turned late-night comedy news show. It's bloody brilliant. She looks fantastic and I definitely love the feel. More fun, laid back, and definitely less sterile. I felt the sterile background was reaking havoc with Rachel's make-up. She looked deadly...or a zombie most of the time---I blame her make up artist for that more often. However, I like her today except her make up artist did go overboard with her eye make up again. But overall I like it.

Plus I liked the Hal Spark and Arriana Huffington...but that's an aside. I can't think Hal Sparks as being called Hal Sparks (just seems a bit unfitting) and I can't get past his look from Queer as Folk so he just looks like a dirt back. An informative and slightly funny dirt bag, but a dirt bag none the less. It's the hair that gave me a slap in the face to the band RATT's era.

3. Is Rachel going to be in L.A. now????????????
I'm in L.A. AND I'm a lesbian. I'd love it if she's going to be in L.A. now :-)

11. "Wreak": irregular verb. Wrought, Wreaks, Wreaking. Wreaked/Wroken.
To cause or make something to happen.

If you think this is difficult for you, irregular verbs wreak havoc with the ability of foreign-speakers to become fluent in English. ;-)

4. It's not a new set.
She was just doing the show from LA tonight. When she gets back to New York she'll be back on the same set.

8. I know. I just prefer this set. She's been in LA before and never had this set.
I prefer it.

6. I liked this set
It was casual, well-designed and put her closer to her in-studio guests...in her regular set she and her guest sit a ridiculous distance apart.

I also don't like the crayola affect of both her graphics and the NY set. It looks cheap and thrown together.

Hopefully MSNBC will see how much better the LA set appeared and will make changes in New York.

9. I agree. I had problems with the way the background was drawn.
Letterman has a better one...but overall I prefer.

10. I totally agree about the "Crayola" graphics
WTF were they thinking when they designed that? It's very "cartoonish" and it certainly does not reflect Rachel's personality. They were going for "young and hip" but it ended looking lame and almost childish. :-(

12. Lots of white. I think they wanted it to look like a web page.

Time, Newsweek, and US News & WR design their covers with a lot of white in the past few years, as well -- I am guessing -- to compete with the web.
