1. No! July 2009 at the latest, according to estimates I've read.
Sooner if Norm gives up.

11. when will Al Franken be seated?
I'm afraid it will be a year. I read that this can be tied up in the courts for a real long time.

Coleman said his lawyers will wrap up their arguments by the end of the week, and he expected a ruling to come down in a “couple weeks.” If he loses, he would not say whether he would try to appeal a ruling with the state Supreme Court.
...
“The reason why he’s making such a fuss is that it’s not going his way,” said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., chairman of the Rules Committee.

But Schumer wouldn’t say whether there would be an effort by his committee or the Senate to seat Franken if Coleman appeals the matter, a move that would be open to a GOP filibuster.

2. By June - I think the furor of being a one seat state is starting to kick in
and we ain't gonna take it much longer. Even Timmy Pawlenty is seeing the troubles. Norm has new losses in the courts every week. It's all over but the RW gnashing of teeth.

3. When Republicon Homelanders stand up to support America?
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 11:48 AM by SpiralHawk
Nah, that's too way off far into the future, after they have all realized how many $38-million lies they have swallowed from Rush 'Draft-Dodger-Drug-Abuser' Limbaugh, and the other corporate media propaganda puppets.

So lemme see, I'm gonna guess Franken will be seated within two weeks.

4. So, he's expected to go that long without pay?
Plus finance the legal rebuttal? There is something so wrong in the way that this whole thing is being manipulated by the REPUGS>

6. This whole thing is BS. He should be seated NOW.
Honestly, this is like third world policy.

7. So, you are saying that MN election law is BS?
There is a judicial process that must be followed. You cannot just force Franken to be seated. I don't think it will be very long now. I think once this current judicial process is finished that Franken will be seated and Coleman is free to appeal for as long as he can.

10. Annoyingly popular claim, isn't it?
The delay the Republicans are putting into this is irritating the hell out of me to say the least, but I'm far from a fan of the suggestion a lot of other people are tossing about wherein we play Republican and start ignoring laws because they're inconvenient.

14. It's the law--the same law would be available to Franken if he was behind.
If Franken was behind, then everyone here would assume that the election was being stolen and encourage him to use any and all legal means available to him. Unfortunately, Coleman has the same legal process open to him. Considering that the legal process is already in progress I'm sure nobody here would want Franken's legitimacy questioned. Until this part of the process is finished, neither the Republican governor nor the Democratic secretary of state will certify Franken as the winner. In the Senate, as it was with Burris it will be with Franken--no certification, no seating.

15. Franken will not be seated. They are putting too much time and money into this without having it
in the bag.
