So, it looks like David Paterson is toast and he has a higher "unfavorable" than "favorable" rating. That is why Senator Gillibrand is concerned because if they wrap Paterson as an albatross around her neck, Gilli is history. Gilli should come out and distance herself from Patsy otherwise she will pay the political price, similar to a price that Senator Burris is paying for his association with Blago.

1. I really hope Tom Suozzi gets another shot.
He's actually a better candidate than Cuomo and would be a better governor.

2. Paterson seems to be in a still life. I believe him to be a very
intelligent soul, but public service requires, in part, public action.

I'm not seeing all that much from him of late, and my guess is the polling you cite is a pretty good read of his chances for the nomination.

At this point in the game it looks as if Andrew Cuomo, who likely wants that job, will get that nomination.

3. Unfortunately, Paterson is over his head. I think that Spitzer put him in the ticket
as a tribute to Basil Paterson...without even thinking that he would step down due to Escortgate.

4. Not Defending What Spitzer Did, But He Really Should Still Be Governor Today.
The country and the state have much bigger problems than his personal foibles.

5. "Gilly Getting the Willies"

US SEN. Kirsten Gilli brand is nervously telling friends that Gov. Paterson's sharp drop in popularity may lead to her defeat in next year's all-but-certain Democratic primary.

Party insiders who have had recent contact with Gillibrand, a former Albany-area congresswoman who has had to backtrack on her past pro-gun and anti-illegal-immigration positions since being named to her post by Paterson, said she appeared nervous, frightened and even shell-shocked over the growing opposition to her.

"She's looking more and more like the proverbial deer in the headlights as she tries to convince activists to support her," said one of those she's courted. "She's very nervous and scared."

Gillibrand, who was picked to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton last month, had hoped backing from the governor and Sen. Charles Schumer would help her overcome opposition from liberal New York City-area Democrats and block a possible primary challenge from Reps. Carolyn Maloney of Manhattan or Carolyn McCarthy of Nassau County, both of whom are seriously considering entering the race.

But Paterson is now in serious political trouble, while Schumer has conspicuously refused to say he would back Gillibrand in a primary.

A Quinnipiac University poll last week showed McCarthy easily defeating Gillibrand among Democratic voters. The poll found Paterson with his lowest approval rating ever.

Party activists are expected to pay close attention to another poll on Paterson's popularity, from Siena College, set to be released tomorrow.

For those of us who can see the truth, that is... as opposed to those that keep generating ooze.

6. If we lose the senate seat in NY because of Patterson's buffoonery
I will scream. The guy didn't have to drag the process out as long as he did or as publically as he did. He proved he's no first rate politician.

7. We won't lose the seat, Carolyn Maloney will defeat Gilli in the Primary
then will crush Peter King in the general election for the Senate.
