I hope the President has learned his lesson.

Most of the Republicans in congress do not form their views from a well thought out rational philosophy. Their views are formed from a cultural and reactionary view of society. They pretend that these ideas are based on logic and facts but they are not.

YOU CANNOT HAVE A LOGICAL DEBATE WITH THESE PEOPLE.

1. He's been in Washington long enough to know this. Again, he's
playing Chess while the repugs are playing checkers. In politics as in many other venues, "appearances" are everything. He did his bit. He reached across the aisle, had the cocktail party, etc. They bit his hand, he felt it. I'm thinking he's way ahead of a lot of people on this. Wait for the next two weeks. Must. get. butter. for. popcorn....

the rethugs wouldn't play nice. :eyes:
You have little regard for our president. I think you aren't paying attention. But hey, have at it.

3. President Obama knows how they will act. He's helping them look
like the obstructionist idiots they are. He's not completely blind....he's got it under control.

4. Unfortunately those Republicans were voted into office....
the same way the Democrats were. It's too bad the Democrats don't fight as hard as the Republicans. And then there's that President thing, where he is the President of the United States, not the Democratic Party. I believe Harry and Nancy are the leaders. And he is not king, no matter what the media says.

5. Obama is not the emperor but he has veto power.
A Democrat Congress will not overturn his veto. This gives him a big advantage.

8. I kind of hope it fails...
..and let the chips fall where they may. If a "Democratic" Congress is unwilling to do what is in the best interests of the people, and the country I would prefer they do nothing. I'd love to see the states go bankrupt, cut the police, fire, public works, schools..everything! Let the military run the country. Then we'll really have something to piss and moan about, and won't that be fun? 'We the people' might actually want a participatory Democracy.

7. What an insult.
Do you read anything before you post crap like this? Did it ever occur to you that engaging the republicans is a strategy?

The way you think is the way the Bushies think.

11. Actually it's the Republicans who need to learn to catch up to modern times
Edited on Sat Feb-07-09 12:02 PM by lunatica
Did you expect that President Obama would just snatch them out of the mythologized 1950's and the totally made up Reagan Era by the power of his smile? They're like ticks. Their heads are deeply buried up their asses and damn near impossible to extract without some major crowbar-like struggle. I saw this coming way back. They fucked up when they had all the power, but that doesn't mean they're going to just let that power be taken away. It doesn't matter to them what they do with the power, just that they have the power to do whatever it is they think will serve them.

Hell, they've got Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber as their leaders. What exactly did you expect? President Obama would have to lose half his IQ to 'learn his lesson' and be just like them. They, unfortunately for us, will never double their IQ in order to comprehend the writing on the wall or 'get' what President Obama is doing.

12. I don't believe
I don't believe for a second that every single Republican that's voting against this, actually wants to vote against it.

Maybe it's true that he mistook their promises to their Governors and constituents to be something other than lies, but he isn't the one with egg on his face.

My repug-senator worked on a bi-partisan amendment to the stimulus with my Dem senator (go Claire!) and the two democratic senators from New Mexico. The amendment had to do with how the money is appropriated to the states. I guess both MO & NM have laws that would have held up getting the money to various municipalities.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is - why would he go to the trouble working on an amendment for something he doesn't want to come to fruition? He's always been big on pork, without apologies, he doesn't want our state to lose out on any of this money.

Please don't mistake that as me praising him (Kit Bond), I just don't believe his vote is anything but politics.

I think the RNC has begun the 2012 presidential campaign, and I think they're throwing Eric Cantor out there as a candidate. We'll see.
