Reid & Pelosi Are Old Washington.....
President Obama needs to get them to tow the line his way or replace them with someone who will.

2. They seemingly thrive on "gridlock" or "submissiveness to the GOP" but only when in The Minority.
:(

3. Unfortunately, there's no one in CA District 8 to challenge Pelosi.
Except for maybe Matt Gonzalez, who ran as Nader's V.P. in 2008, there's no one else nearly as powerful to run against her.

Anyone who is, is one of her cronies.

11. Exactly. There are very few in San Francisco close to her level

who are not already in her camp. Maybe DUers closer to S.F. politics could help me out.

I was thrilled when Pelosi was named Speaker. Now I rue the day.

13. Matt Gonzalez would get his ass kicked too.
S.F., by and large, likes her a great deal. And unless you find her politics abhorrent (which few S.F. voters do), you'd have to be a moron to decide to replace your representative with a zero-seniority, third-party schlub when your representative is the most powerful person in Congress.

14. You make a strong argument, and perhaps S.F. is benefitting from her
representation, but there are a lot of people on D.U. who would like her head.

4. Last time I checked, Obama was elected president
not dictator. As crappy as Pelosi and Reid may be, it's not up to him to replace them with someone else.

6. Yes, but he has to be careful.

There are people in Congress that have been there many years and they are not going to let the young pup, president or not, tell them what to do. Reid already said that he didn't work for Obama. Pelosi will also do whatever the heck she wants.

They (though not the same players) did the same to Bill Clinton when he entered office. We had the majority in Congress and they fought him every step of the way. We are our own worst enemies.

12. Woe betide those who quarrel with our great and mighty God-king.
He shall pluck them from the Congressional firmament and in their place he shall raise up new supporters.
