If Kerry actually wins
the electoral college vote on November 2nd, who here actually thinks the Bush cabal will leave quietly? Isn't it more likely that they will do their best to keep Bush in power anyway? What if a major terrorist attack occurs -- won't they use that to say we can't change presidents despite the election outcome?

I can think of lots of scenarios, but the essential question is this: Will they accept the will of the people? Do you really think so?

1. Hm. Having to call in the 101st to "remove" Bush & co. would be the icing
icing on the cake for inaugural day. Excuse me while I have a Jerry Bruckheimer like fantasy.

Lt. Kerry and Gen. Clark having to draw up siege plans to evict Bushco from the WH...hilarious, absolutely hilarious

2. "Actually?" Let's not be so pessimistic
But if he does, and Bush wins the popular vote, expect a whole new definition of hypocrisy.

4. Scarey thoughts
aren't they and could very well happen, nothing is beyond this crew. I imagine lots of law suits in any race that could be considered close at all. They will fight with all they got and will be prepared for this to happen.

if Kerry wins electoral vote, and loses popular vote
Bush and the republicans and the RW media will fight like mad to discredit the election. They will be absolutely impervious to people pointing out the hypocrisy, they'll just plug on.

And if Kerry survives, and takes office, they will never accept it. It will be nonstop lawsuits and investigations and tirades in the RW press. The war on terror will be completely forgotten by the right wing, like everything was forgotten during the Clinton presidency.

7. at the very least they'll try to..,
take all the K's off the word processor keyboards.
but my gut feeling is that they'll try to declare a state of emergency that they would use to justify martial law.
These people don't play by the rules.

8. Just remember Spain/Madrid 2003
Aznar phoned the WH and tried to declare a state of emergency to postpone the election. Thanks to a few spain generals in the army and the guardia civil, they didn't support Aznar and he was toast. Simple to get to the conclusion that Bu$h will do the same. If he loose we might will see some things never happend before. Sad to say that, but as they keep lying every day about a safer world (hu, parallel dimensions or what?!?), a "free" (but devasted) Iraq, a booming economy (on debt), secure healtcare for everyone (who can pay), good education (what a joke, geee) and so on, why shouln't they lie about the election results? Sad to say that because I realy like the USA and have some very good friends over there. But I won't travell to the United States as long as GWB is President and as long as I have to give more information about me due to the homeland security act than I ever had to give for a visit behind the iron curtain some years ago.

Sorry for mistakes, DU is a nice place for an old european ;):)

9. Civil war
no doubt.

Especially if Kerry wins the EC and not the "popular vote" (1st is possible, 2nd is unlikely) and, wow, all of a sudden, the Repukes want to deal with the courts . . .

14. I think Kerry will win but am really curious as to
how it's going to come about. I know they don't want to accept the "will of the People"..so am thinking it's going to be even more delicious when Kerry gets situated in the White House. Without any blood being shed(I hope)!

16. No, I'm not talking about
Bush simply refusing to vacate, like a tenant being evicted, but of an extra-legal attempt to remain as sitting President.

For instance, a big terror hit, thousands die. Don't you think all the conservative and right-wing media, politicians, etc would be announcing very loudly that this is a clear sign from the Almighty that He wants Bush to remain President?

Perhaps there will be shenanigans with the Electoral College.

What I'm getting at is that I don't see the administration simply accepting a vote that doesn't go their way -- not at all like Al Gore who simply did not fight for his Presidency.

To begin with, I have almost no faith that the election will actually be free, fair, and honest.
