House Republicans Running Scared on White House Threat
Marc Ambinder reports House Republicans "are reacting strongly to reports that the White House plans a political onslaught to pressure Republicans into supporting the stimulus package and to punish those who don't."

To that end, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) "will soon issue a statement contending that Obama's promise to 'put an end to petty politics' is 'threatened' as the White House and their allies 'are making political threats rather than crafting a bipartisan economic stimulus plan.'"

Meanwhile, Nate Silver observes that the Republicans "are in something of a death spiral. The more conservative, partisan, and strident their message becomes, the more they alienate non-base Republicans. But the more they alienate non-base Republicans, the fewer of them are left to worry about appeasing. Thus, their message becomes continually more appealing to the base -- but more conservative, partisan, and strident to the rest of us. And the process loops back upon itself."

"Bipartisan" wasn't on the BALLOT. Never voted for "Bipartisan".
Their reign of TERROR is O.V.E.R. They should shop for burial plots.

through the hole.
That, btw, is my new image for dealing with the Repubics. In contrast to Grover Norquist's infamous "bathtub" image.

Edit: Typeaux

4. Anybody on here complaining
about Obama needs to imagine what it would be like if mccain-palin stole it and creepy Senators like cantor were calling the shots.

11. Oh HELL yeah!
Even if President Obama continues to reach out, I will support him. He has to be who he is, and it seems to work for him and all of us in the long run. I need look no further than his campaign. After a month or so of watching him and fighting my doubt, I quickly became a believer. It is folly to go against him, because you end up looking like a fool. He's not a god or anything, just a helluva lot smarter than the average person. Certainly me.

5. The very reason Obama was 4th on my list during the primaries...
was his bipartisan stance (and because he wasn't liberal enough, but he's certainly liberal enough compared to the alternative, and I have no complaints so far). I do respect his willingness to reach across the aisle and take the high road, but don't really want it if Republicans choose to continue to behave like assholes. He's too good for the likes of them.

8. You have to make the attempts, if you want to stay in power
Thats why Obama won the primary and why he has strong support from Independents. As long as he tries, even though he knows they can't be worked with, he looks good and his support remains strong while their approval ratings remain in the 30s.

But Cantor and Boneher made them all fall in line.

Big mistake

7. That's cool.
But in the end, they will be more like Nazi's than Americans and fall into lockstep with the Party line. How sad.

16. I love it
What whiners the repugs are. They can dish out crap but they can't take it when it comes back to them tenfold. Ads are now up and running in key states for repug senators to support the recovery package. They go against this plan at their own peril.

20. Obama should just smile and say these congressmen/women stand by their principles
of encouraging more unemployment and even more tax breaks for the rich as the solution to America's financial crisis. It didn't work before but some legislators do not learn from their mistakes. So be it. The voters in their respective districts will have to decide whether to stick with the failed Republican policies and their Republican representatives or to vote them out of office. Change is the answer.

21. Punish
Those who don't?

Oh, come on... we have three branches of government and the legislature is independent of the executive. They will have to answer to their constituents, NOT the President or anyone else. Let the right play these stupid goddamn games. We're better than that.
