Just think what that would do to make this election a done deal. What can we do to make that a reality? I am beginning a walk for my precinct this week. Even though I am in Texas, I want to begin the process that will change my state and our nation back to some type of sanity.

6. I think 50 million female voters did not vote in 2000 ...is that true?

17. This one did. I have read that many females are disengaged because
of the macho war comparisons (real on Kerry's part and we know about the chicken-livered bush) and the lack of focus on the real issues. Many feel that bush is their strong protector on homeland defense which mean many of us are down right DUMB. I do not know what we can so to get the women motivated.

2. Doing all that I can!
I know I have inspired new voters, some have even become volonteers and I continually work on rinos. I know I have gotten through to some.

7. I've already done FAR more than that....
The voter registration table I'm coordinating at a local collge campus has registered (or re-registered) over 100 voters in only about 8 active tabling days. While we'll register anyone, the ratio has been 9-to-1 Democratic over Republican.

If you're not doing tabling, contact your local Democratic party organization and volunteer to precinct-walk. This will help us get as many Dems as possible out to the polls on November 2nd.

It isn't tough, people. It's actually even kinda fun.

9. I got one under my belt.
It was a woman who was temping as a receptionist in our office. She happens to be black, so I basically just told her all the things that Bush and his cronies are trying to do to the black community, from the mess in Florida in 2000 (and the voter intimidation going on now), to Bush's record on the war on drugs and the death penalty which targets blacks disproportionately. I also lightly hinted at my LIHOP beliefs, but that may be too in-depth for an average voter.

I told her how to make sure she was registered to vote, and how to find out where to vote.

So that's one non-voter turned Kerry supporter. If I ever meet a Bush supporter who could stop spouting slogans (Terraists! WMDs! Iraq! 911 911 911 911 911!) long enough to listen, I could probably turn them too.

10. I'm in!
I've got 2 already.

Also this includes making sure these people actually GO TO THE POLLS (or vote absentee), not just say they are going to vote for Kerry.

12. Send letters to friends and family
I did this recently. It was the first time I have ever sent out a broadcast email to a whole bunch of names in my address book (and I've been using email since the 1980s). The approach I took was to say that I consider participation in the 2004 election crucial, since the country can't afford another "hung" election like in 2000. (This is something that even Bush supporters should agree with.) I avoided making a long argument in support of voting for Kerry, instead simply saying that the reasons for replacing GWB have been widely discussed, and pointing people to one specific article that I think is a strong pro-Kerry piece (not just ABB), the Washington Monthly story on how Kerry busted BCCI.

You need to find a way to get this message across: if you're supporting Kerry, get active in your support; if you're not sure or are supporting Bush, at least listen to what I'm saying and think hard about your decision. I also don't think it hurts to tell someone, "Well, if you're supporting Bush, I hope you won't stay home but will get out and vote for him": you're sending a message that you consider participation in democracy to be the most important duty of a citizen, and anyone who really thinks about that message just may get a clue that GWB is not the best person to represent that value.

The supposed forgery "experts" couldn't find an old add from IBM to see what was available in that era? Makes you think about what their motives are.

Attack the messenger..........

20. I think I can say DU has helped me change or register
5 new voters to Kerry. My next challenge is an African-American teacher friend of mine who is a lukewarm supporter of Bush. She said, "Okay, my mind is open. Try to change me." I hope I can do it, but DU will help me with my talking points, that's for sure.
