Manfred Nowak, U.N. Special Rep. on Torture, has stated that, "The government of the United States is required to take all necessary steps to bring George W. Bush and Donald Rumsfeld before a court."
I watched it and hope our government follows up. So many crimes, so little time. 'Nowak' said there is PROOF that bush and rummsfeld knew of and were culpable in the practice of torture. Its good to know that their executive privlege no longer counts. They will have to answer any and all subpeonas. Karl Rove has already refused one and we have another now, where he will have to testify. Lets see if they can keep up the lie when they are seperated.
Over the weekend, i read (can't remember where, sorry) that, in fact, if we DON'T do this, other countries could take it upon themselves to perform the arrest and trial. Essentially, Bush could go on a diplomatic mission to another country and be arrested on the tarmac. The basis for this has (apparently) something to do with the nature of war crimes and global responsibility for upholding those standards.Would it be the same as Pinochet arrested in London extradited to Spain?
