Has Bush Written Off Michigan?
The Free Press seems to think so:

"Michigan and its 17 electoral votes are still in play, but there are subtle and concrete signs that the Bush and Kerry campaigns are putting more of their time and money elsewhere as Kerry seems to have an upper hand in the state.

In August, Michigan dropped out of the top 10 markets for political advertising spending for both candidates. According to surveys done by the Nielsen Monitor-Plus and the University of Wisconsin Advertising Project,"

1. Did anyone hear that cow Candy Crowley's comments this morning?
I was listening to our brand spankin' new Air America station in Atlanta (thank god!) and they had a snippet of CNN Radio on. Candy was reporting on the 6 point lead Kerry has in the polls there and said "it's a good thing. If he didn't have that much of a lead, I think the Kerry people would be more worried than they already are."
Any little dig, Candy, any little dig you can get to get at Kerry.

2. I'll concede her point
If we weren't winning, we'd be more concerned about not winning.

8. LOL
BTW, I'm glad to see Kerry doing well there. That means he can concentrate on more on Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio.

Look at this picture from WI today!

This is happening everywhere Kerry goes.

6. I feel for you, living in freeperland
I live in the Detroit area, but grew up in GR (Kentwood). My mom still lives in GR and my sister lives in Holland.

Bush and Cheney come to Oakland and Macomb county, but rarely to the city of Detroit. Kerry is here today at the Detroit Economic Club, a venue Bush has addressed before. Kerry does need to visit some other areas of the city other than the Potemkin village that is downtown.

10. Kerry was on the West Side yesterday
He made an unexpected appearance at Steve's Soul Food on Grand River. And he pointed out that you will never see Bush at a place like that.

17. I live in Kentwood
Not far from where noonwitch lived, as a matter of fact!

Bush/Cheney stickers, signs, etc., don't seem to outnumber paraphernalia from Kerry/Edwards as much as they did Gore/Lieberman and even Clinton/Gore '96.

11. Let me tell you somethiong, Melissa
We couldn't get any lawn signs in Ferndale for the last 2 weeks because the Grand Rapids office was giving away so many. More than 12,000 signs have been distributed there.

BUT they are being stolen...
there was an article in the GR Press about how 120 reports of stolen signs have been called into the Kerry hq...what are these FOOLS so afraid of that we can't put a sign up to support our guy...funny but the press said NOT ONE * Cheney sign had been disturbed...

My husband is afraid that if I put one in the yard...someone will come vandalize our house..its that heated here! LOL!

7. My husband and I drove through Michigan
the Thursday before Labor Day on our way to Toronto from Chicago. I was pretty surprised to see not one */Cheney bumpersticker on cars on I-94 that day. I was really expecting to see some, but not a one. When we returned on Labor Day, I did see one on a car, on I-94 around the Detroit Airport area, and the meathead zoomed by us doing about 90 mph.

Not very scientific, I know, but I thought it was pretty telling.
