let them get up there an embarrass themselves 24/7 until they give it up. Call their bluff. Let them get blamed for not moving swiftly.

14. No, the nuclear option gets rid of the filibuster
completely through procedural votes. The budget process is a pre-existing scheme that ensures that a budget can get passed every year.

15. Can the budgeting process be used for this bill?
This technically isn't a budget, after all.

13. Most Agreed! I wanna see from them the most tweaked out, beady-eyed, 3-day bearded gibberish since
Nixon; I wanna see them lapse back into what they are truly: whining cry baby obstructionsist...and they have a good head start too

How did filibustering become a part time job anyway between rest stops in your senate office splashing cool water on your face from a sink you bought on a junket to Rome?

4. Or kill the filibuster once and for all.
It's become a bulwark to progress and is not in the constitution.

12. They wouldn't dare
The public is hearing bad ecomonic news all day every day. Here the newly elected president is trying to do something about it and they are going to filibuster? Not a chance.

17. I doubt McConnell & co. could sustain a filibuster.
Edited on Tue Jan-27-09 01:43 PM by backscatter712
There's too much pressure for the stimulus bill to pass ASAP. If they try to block it, Obama will tear them to pieces. A few Rethugs might try, but they'll get clotured. Even Reid can manage a cloture on this one.

18. If they do, it will be a gift to this adminstration.
Talk about creating your own nightmare publicity. The GOP will learn quickly that the phrase "no publicity is bad publicity" is completely false.
