CNN: Poll: Michigan too close to call - Kerry 50 percent, shrub 44
Here is a prime example of the LIBERAL media pandering to the shrub!
Last week when the race was the other way around, shrub had a substantial lead.
:wtf:

14. 50-44 Kerry is too close to call; 48-46 Bush would be insurmountable
This is the new logic of corporate media poll interpretation.

Get with the program.

4. Those are Rasmussen's Numbers for 9/14/04
Kerry 51%-45%

Michigan is safe.

I'm worried about Wisc., Minn., and Penn.,

We have to shore up those key states, and add Ohio or Fla., to win this thing. The whole election is about the debates.

7. Too close to call?
If the poll numbers are 50-44 and the poll takers are calling it "too close to call" imagine what the numbers would be if the poll takers were legitimate! The normal margin of error in these polls is + or - 3 percent. By saying 50-44 is too close to call they are giving away their bias. If they won't interpet the poll numbers properly you can't trust the poll numbers they collect.

8. Edwards and if possible Kerry should go to Columbus
for Oktoberfest (held in September) or an OSU football game (attended by 90000 people). They could hold a tailgate party if the University allows. The OSU-Michigan game is after the election I think, and it would be better not to go to that one anyone since he'd be perceived as taking sides.

10. That would be funny on the Daily Show
Your moment of zen . . .

Show the numbers in Bush's favor with Bush showing a substantial lead.

Show the same numbers in Kerry's favor with the race too close to call.

LOL

11. Michigan should be safe
As long as Detroiters show up at the polls. I think they will, because of the remarks made by Pappageorge from Oakland County about "suppressing the Detroit vote". That kind of thing riles up Detroiters. Kerry's here today-people were hanging homemade signs from the overpasses on 1-75 to greet him.

The freepers think that Michigan having the marriage thing on the ballot will help Bush. They don't understand how Detroiters vote-there are many Detroit voters who will vote for the ban on gay marriage and still vote for Kerry.

15. CNN is a "tool". The real question is "who owns it and why would
they want Bush to be elected"? The answer, of course, has to do with greed/profit rather than mere ideology.

If the Republicans ever get thrown out of office, one of the first jobs will be to set up safeguards against the media ever falling into the hands of the incumbent Presidency. (It's interesting to note that Thomas Jefferson repeatedly warned against an unscrupulous press.)

18. Small dissent
The problem is not the media is in the hands of the "incumbent Presidency." The problem is much more complex than that. This isn't the old classical fascist model. This is something else.

First of all, the media is in fewer and more homogeneous hands than ever before; second, those who own the media also own the Bush White House.

The point of the First Amendment provision of freedom of the press was to assume that the press would be an independent watchdog over the government and expose abuses of power. That works as a check against political power in government; if somebody is taking bribes and extorting campaign contributions, expose it. However, it doesn't necessarily work as a check against the abuse of private power; if a multinational corporation is making profits from employing school-age children overseas, that's a story that can be buried. If the same multinational corporation owns major media outlets, it's just that much easier to bury. Of course, if a nation goes to war for what appears, at least after the fact, to be for no better reason than to provide business opportunities for multinational corporations, that is a story that definitely must be buried and becomes much easier to do so.

It's the old story taken a step further. We've all seen the old B-movies about how a crusading reporter uncovers the ties between a powerful political figure and organized crime. It always has a happy ending with the criminals and the crooked politicians going up the river and the reporter marrying the publisher's bright, pretty daughter. Now imagine that the criminals also own the newspaper for which the reporter works. The simply fire the reporter, or, if that's too much trouble, they just don't run his stories.

19. Yeah, just wait.
During the debates, Bush will stumble over his words trying to keep his lies straight.

After the debates, the talking heads will all say that Bush did very well and answered Kerry's points adequately, never pointing out that his utterances don't jive with the facts at hand.
