President Obama More Than Charisma

I’ve seen charismatic politicians and pretty families come and go like sunrises and sunsets over the years. There was something more that was making people go ga-ga over Obama. Something deeper.

We’ve been watching that something this week, and it’s called leadership. Mr. Obama has been feeding the almost desperate hunger in this country for mature leadership, for someone who is not reckless and clownish, shortsighted and self-absorbed.

“Transparency and rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency,” he said. It was a commitment to responsible behavior, and a challenge to the public to hold the Obama administration accountable.

1. Take away the last 8yrs of GWBush and his 24/7 protection from corpmedia, and there would be

other leaders VISIBLE. If not for the last 8yrs of GWBush and unspinnable events like Katrina, Obama would have HAD to spend more time finding ways to show he had the skills.

In 2008 the Democrat was going to win no matter what, we knew that by fall of 2006. 2008 cannot be compared to any other election cycle. Obama is handling his opportunity to show leadership by....showing leadership.

4. Very frustrating.

Its been one of my biggest frustrations during the campaign and also afterwards that people believed that the main attraction towards Pres. Obama was his charisma. While he does have charisma, it is eclipsed by his ability to give a message that was clear, consistent, and resonated with the American people.
