FOUR DAYS into the Obama Administration and some of you are criticizing him for not moving fast
enough on "YOUR" issues? Eight years of the little jug-eared fuck and Obama isn't getting "YOUR" issue done to "YOUR" satisfaction after FOUR days?

Wake up DU, grow up DU. This is going to be a long, difficult four years with the insanity spewing here.

Thank God he didn't listen to us and has a brain.

4. Everybody (including me) has their special interest pet issues
But some people don't understand that politics is a team sport, not a me sport.

In the presidency, priorities have to get set. That means some people, some interest groups, with their laundry list of pet issues, will just have to take a number, have seat and wait their turn.

5. DU will be in full opposition to Barack Obama within the next few weeks......
For whatever their fancy....this or that or the other. I'm betting as sure as the sun sets in the West, that this is how long it will take before this site is more weighted towards negativity towards Obama and what he has and hasn't done than not.

That's what we are used to and as far as I can tell, there will be no change when it comes to it.

are little more than an opportunity for those of whom you speak to gripe about their "issues".

9. Well said. It is frustrating to see
a DUer post some snarky comment because a pet issue has not been addressed in Obama's first three days.

What complete, total nonsense.

We finally has a president that we can be proud of and within 72 hours of his term, some DUers are taking pot shots at him.

Grow up.

12. Amen! I was so mad at CNN - One complained he was too slow...
Wolf asked if he was moving too fast. Both were 1 1/2 days into the administration.

Truth be known, neither of them could multi-task if their life depended on it.

Slow down! Let's give him a chance to get it right and complete as much as he can in FOUR years so we can continue into the next FOUR.

Enough, already!

Thanks for the post.

13. DU is far out of the mainstream
Edited on Sat Jan-24-09 03:57 PM by Cali_Democrat
I saw a poll that said an overwhelming majority of people in this country approve of Obama's actions.

There are a lot of drama queens on DU that cry about every little thing.

17. DUers are not doers.
I don't mean everyone, of course, but in general, you won't see DUers actually going out and participating in democracy. People complain that the candidate doesn't support X or Y, but they don't join the group that is building consensus amongst voters for X and Y. If people care about civil liberties, they should join the ACLU or some other group. If they care about NAFTA they should probably join some other group. By the time the candidates are selected it's too late, and railing against them is only going to strengthen the Republicans.

Case in point: I've posted threads asking people what they are doing for elections, and they sink. But start some sort of complaining about the outrage du jour and it will go on for days.

Another case in point: Rarely do I see people in real-life politics who go on DU. So it works both ways.

I'm not knocking the concept of DU or anything, but people need to think about whether or not they are substituting their participation here for actual progress.

32. I have the same experience with my boring
action oriented threads. they sink like the titanic.

Today, in fact, I posted (not an OP) about writing to our congress people about the Holder delay. Perhaps a few people care, but overall, not a lot of takers-- but mark my words, in the future, people will be bitching and moaning about "weak Dems" and how they hate Pelosi because war crimes aren't being prosecuted....

never recalling the last few days, the role of the AG and DoJ, and the bargain the republicans are trying to force.

IF they get their way on this one, we won't be able to prosecute.

Good topic, anyway:-)

15. I agree, but I hope we're not referring to marriage equality as a "pet issue"
It's hard to tell what the OP is referring to without a link. I have certainly taken my share of flaming and trashing because I think that, strategically, GLBT issues need to be deferred to avoid a Clintonesque "gays in the military" fiasco, which basically crippled Clinton for years. That said, however, I wouldn't refer to such issues as "pet issues" to the people who are concerned.

I do worry about criticism of the economic package. Just because the current proposals aren't big enough doesn't mean he can't come back to the well for more. He's wisely taking an approach of incremental increases until something works.

No matter how good of a chef you are you cannot make a good chicken salad out of chicken poop.I believe there are only two roads out of this mess,a very ,very difficult road and a very, very, very difficult road.My difficulty with many of the comments on DU is that most people on here do not realize how long and difficult this is going to be,IMHO.

People have a right to their concerns and desire to have their issues dealt with, but come on, give the man a break, he should be allotted even more of a grace period given the fact he has to do his job while cleaning up after the last guy.

26. I am crying tears of relief
I've read of ALL the actions he's taken & am greatly relieved. After 8 LONG NIGHTMARISH YEARS-of COURSE it will take time to heal, to be able to take our new President at his word. We could NOT do that with Bush. Time will tell, & already I see him in a MUCH better light-there was SO MUCH CORRUPTION with Bush, SO MANY LIES, every State of the Union speech W gave had a lie in it. It will take time to heal, & to feel that he really does mean what he says-the opposite of Bush.

28. Lets face it. If you are bitching at Obama at this point, you learned nothing during Bush's 8 yrs.
The fact that competence, intellect, temperament, responsible awareness and, most of all, good intentions have returned to the White House makes all the change in the world in and of itself.
