1) Bush has all the advantages of being the incumbent, not least of which is that the media swallows every lie the White House puts out. (2) Bush is a far more skilled campaigner than Kerry. Compare these images: Dubya in his shirtsleeves grinning and shaking hands with adoring morons, and the dour, long-faced, Kerry droning on in his monotonous baritone about the fine print of NAFTA or his proposed amendment to EGTRRA. (3) Millions of people believe that the war in Iraq is part of "the war on terror" and is somehow making us safer. (4) Kerry voted for the war and is therefore fearful of criticizing the rush to war, lest he appear to be "flip-flopping." (5) Most people have no clue that Bush wants to end overtime pay, eliminate all taxes on interest, dividends, and capital gains, allow more mining in the national forests AND the national parks, has drastically reduced limits on air pollution produced by power plants, has cut income taxes so much that the deficits could cause a financial crisis within 10 years, signed a Medicare drug bill that explicitly prohibits the federal government from negotiating lower drug prices, cut medical benefits for veterans, has actively encouraged business interests to sue the federal government so that the government can negotiate settlements that are favorable to industry, and on and on. People have no clue.
What Kerry must do: Fire the so-called "advisers" and ATTACK Bush on his record. If Kerry loses this election it will be because he did not use the most effective weapon at his disposal: Bush's record.
