Info request: Presidents who have walked part or all of their parade route
Carter walked the whole way in 1977, supposedly a first in modern times.
Reagan in 1981, I don't recall... did he walk part of the way?
Reagan's 1985 inauguration was snowed in.
Bush in 1989, I don't recall.
Clinton walked part of the way both times he took the oath.
Junior Bush's inaugurations (2001 & 2005) were snowed in... by eggs. No footwork until he hit the stands.

Since the "tradition" started, have any Republicans walked part of the way to the White House after being sworn in?

To be honest I find it rather irritating. Bush is gone, thank goodness, and we have a wonderful new president we can be proud of.
